If they could only do it for sports games...

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed

I'm willing to bet that at least 80% of Treyarch's sales for this game will be because of the fantastic job IW did with COD4 and most gamers have no clue that it will be a different developer making it. COD3 sucked, and taking this thing back to WWII is a bad move. WWII games have been pleyed out for years. I won't be buying it. I'll just continue playing COD4 from time to time until COD6 comes out. There will be plenty other good shooters coming out in the meantime.

The game looks half-way decent. I'll convince my brother to buy it

The only thing this game has going for it that COD 4 doesn't for me is vibration on the PS3. Otherwise, while graphics are terrific, I still much prefer Modern Warfare.

                Activision to "monetize" CoD

"We ... see strong opportunities to monetize online gameplay," said Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith during an analyst day on Monday. "The average Call of Duty player has spent nearly five full 24-hour days of their lives online since purchasing the game.

"Over time, we'll qualify more opportunities to increase the monetization of these activities."

Infinity Ward-developed CoD4 has paid downloadable maps available on digital storefronts, but with CoD5, developed by Activision studio Treyarch, downloadable content will be a considerably bigger priority.

Griffith added that Activision "plans to increase online monetization" with CoD5, offering "3x the amount of content available for download and premium content called 'Day One Advantage.'"
I wonder how much backlash Activision will catch for this, after EA was killed for thinking about doing it with Bad Company.

I hope they dont screw this up with all this payable download crap! I dont want to see people online dropping $5 for a gun and then be unstoppable b/c of it... hopefully this doesnt happen. but if its map pack and the like then its all good and or missions would be cool as well... guess we will find out.

This is getting stupid. Charge less for the game if you are going to screw over your consumers. The COD4 map pack is not really that great. I like the TV station and that's about it.

This makes COD5 look more and more like a pass for me.

TV station was my favorite too. I never figured out why Creek got all the love. I also liked the city level and Shipment was just chaos.

                        Seriously.

You shouldn't have ideas and maps already planned for download day one the game comes out. DLC should be used as something down the line.

We already pay so much money for these games and to be purchasing stuff like guns or armor is ridiculous. Next generation is pay more for less.
