I believe that curved button layout first became popular with Virtua Fighter...

The far left 6 buttons are set up like the Japanese arcade cabinets and the right 6 are set up like US cabinets. I cant stand using the left 6, but the straight buttons on the right are ok. Sure, they are set on an angle, but at least its a straight row.

No, the far left buttons on the japanese cabinet go slightly up and to the left, they don't have the FP/RK buttons lower than the Med's. And the buttons on the right are straight... if your head is at an angle. They slope downward if you're trying to keep the buttons measured up to the correct U/D/L/R on the stick. They tried to find a common ground for multiple games and IMO, failed.

I never liked using arcade sticks. I've always been much better on a controller.

I didnt necesarrily mean that they were set up like the SFIV cabinet, just Jap buttons in general. The HRAP EX2 came out before SFIV, and wasnt really designed with only that game in mind. I have played quite a few SFII cabinets with the offset button placement like the left 6, and since the cabinet art was in Japanese, I assumed thats the way they all are. Either way, the left 6 buttons dont bother me because they are in a straight row.

I already have my sanwa buttons and octogon gate to put in the stick when I get it. The one thing I hate about the US version of the HRAP is they put the A, B, X, Y buttons in a really wierd order. Since Im opening up the stick to put new buttons in, Im just gonna move them to where I want them. I cant wait.

If I hadnt played so many hours of SFII in the arcade as a kid Id probably feel the same way. That said, I find it much easier to Shoryuken spam with a controller, but I dont use Ken or Ryu very often anyway.

Most of these sticks have a problem with them one way or another. You'll end up just buying parts and building your own contraption in the end.

EDIT: Just like Virix mentioned he is doing. Not worth it IMO but there are people who are crazy over certain things. Just the beauty of life.

Im changing the buttons to the same buttons from the arcade cabinet though. They are just more sensitive, so I like them better. It already has the same JLH stick from arcade cabinets, so why not put the same buttons in? Its $20 and 15 mins of work. What can I say? Im an electronics nut.

Just try the far right 6, it may not bother you at all.

I used Ken when we fought, mostly because Ive used him for so long and you were kicking my butt. Id generally prefer to use Guile or Bison, but you were handing me my butt so I had to use him. Ive also been using my fightpad, but once I get my stick Ill be rolling with Zangeif more often.

I dont think Ive used Ken for more than 4 or 5 matches total, including my couple of fights with you.

ah, gotcha. I've played a lot of matches in a short amount of time(about 250), so it's all kind of a blur. I was trying to remember. Mo uses Cammy and mood uses Akuma, but everyone else switches around a bit.

My favorite part about fighting OSers: when people scream "nooooo" in the third round while losing the chance to end a winning streak.

I am a rookie when it comes to fighting games. I haven't played them in years. I don't know what an ex move or a charge or any of that mubo jumbo is. I don't know why you would cancel a move to do this or anything.

Like that one guy from the Mexican Food Network... I looked at some of his moves and I have no idea how to do them or what the symbols even meant.

I dunno too much!
