Has anyone gone out to the far west perimeter where the sand dunes, savannah is? Just great scenery.

    Am really enjoying this game.
I've been playing for a while and I still feel like I've barely made a dent. Did you go to that huge fortress on the mountain next to that sand dune area yet? Can get rather extreme up there.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

Wow? No....have made a trip back to Pala as I ran out of malaria pills, making a bunch of side trips. I'm trying to track down a convoy right now to destroy it, but I'm having problems catching up to it with all the little shoot outs in between. Have you used an IED? They work great. I know what you mean though about how huge this game is. The replay value is certainly there.

Love the flame thrower and the molotov cocktails. Want to keep your enemy on one side of the road so you can keep them in site, just start a fire, works great.

Love the day to night transition and the occasional rain. Actually love everything about the game except for an occasional dumb enemy just standing there.

I think I'm going to give this a shot.

I've been playing Fallout 3 lately, and while it's a good game, I'm not really liking the whole combat system all that much, and am craving a massive world with normal FPS type controls (ie - not based on ratings/skill levels).

Hopefully this game will be more what I was expecting Fallout 3 to be (minus the whole apocalyptic thing, obviously).

I am enjoying the both for different reasons. FO3 for the more rich story and upgrades and challenges/quests and FC2 for the huge open immersive world and great FPS shooter mechanics

Have you guys experienced a wind storm yet. It was sunny outside then all of a sudden it cloud cover came and it started to lightly rain. After that the trees started shake violently. I thought for a minute that a tornado was coming.
What world do you live in?

That's neat. Certainly don't know what to expect some times.

How does the online multiplayer compare to games like COD4, and GOW?

I've been contemplating getting this one...I know the story mode is bad a$$, and the graphics look sick.

Had Resistance 2, Far Cry 2 and GOW 2 in my hands today and walked out with none... I bought NBA Live 09 used because I have 7 days to return it. Out of the ones I looked into FarCry seemed to interest me the most.

Far Cry 2 would have been the best choice. GoW2 is just too much the same as GoW, and I don't get the love towards Resistance 2. Overrated big time IMO.

Just may pick this up as it's been on my radar and I've yet to decide whether I'm getting COD yet. Think I'm just worn out with WWII games. I know the Co-op will be fun and the multiplayer will be a blast as was COD4 but I just don't know.

I am enjoying the multiplayer but my biggest complaint is that it takes far too long for a guy to go down when at full health especially when using assault guns.

yea, it's a pretty cool online mode although quite different from the COD type of 60fps crazy fast control. Still well placed head shots work well in FC2 online but as you said Assault weapons take lots of bullets. Loving the graphics online, weather and different lighting. the fire adds a nice twist and the running slide into cover is way cool.

I dislike how the ranked matches give players a very big edge in rank up (better weapons) since the matchmaking seems to suck at putting you in games with like skill level..

Althoguh the custom maps add variety it means that getting better at the game by learning the maps is not really an option... seems like a lot of people like to play with custom maps (in player mode) and I think the UBI maps are almost all better.

So far I'm really liking it. Glad I picked it up. Some very cool visuals and the day/night progression looks great. Love how you can "scout" and area and have things marked on the map.
