Re: Far Cry 2
Thanx bro. One quick question? If these guys pay up front can't I just take thier money and not do the mission and go to the other place, get paid up front, then have 60 diamonds in my pocket without doing anything. I know that's not the point of the game but it seems like a quick way to get that camo suit.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: Far Cry 2
Here is the specs.
Case - Cooler Master Centurion
Motherboard - Foxconn P45A
Proc - Intel Quad Q6600
Video card - XFX 9800 GT
Power Supply - PC Power & Cooling 750w
Ram - OCZ Reaper 4GB
Total build cost
$644.80
Cheap, powerful, and can handle just about any game I can throw at it. Perfect for me.
Ohhh yea, I also run a case now that has a side window with light and what not. I got sooooooo tired of the light shine, that I went with a case that had no window. Plus I like cooler master.
All other parts like Hard drive, Floppy, DVD drive, and burner. I already have so that is why they are not on this list. This is just what I purchased for the build coming up this week.
My end specs look like this
Q6600
OCZ reaper 4 GB ram
XFX 9800 GT
Foxconn P45A-S
500 gig HD (I will never use it all lol)
750W PS
My monitor - 19" Samsung 940BW
Flight controls - Saitek rudders and throttle quad and joy for flight sims
Headphones - Sennheiser 280s
Gamepad - Z-Fang
5:1 surround sound - Logitech Z-5500

Re: Far Cry 2
I've gotten about 10% progress so far but I'm just not feeling this game. Maybe because I'm playing with the same crappy guns making it boring in combat. The machine gun is the only useful weapon to use at checkpoints, the pistol and the gun that sets things on fire are useless.
I've done a few missions for the weapons dealers and he tells me he'll have a special weapon for me to get back but when I complete the mission and go back to the shop I get nothing, no payment, no gun so why am I doing these missions for the dealer? It keeps saying it will unlock the same weapons after every mission completed but it doesn't happen. Each diamond case only has 1 diamond so I can't buy any good weapons because they cost like 10+ diamonds. Am I supposed to spend hours looking for diamond cases in the bush to buy the sniper rifles. I also hate the weapons design. If I get a sniper rifle I lose my machine gun. I feel obligated to keep my machine gun because the sniper rifle is not good for close combat and is inaccurate with the kick back to use effectively.
I just feel like I'm doing missions for no good reason and killing the same people at the same checkpoints with the same gun and I don't understand the weapons computer terminal because they have so many weapons listed I don't even know which one I have to upgrade the reliability. The weapons crates cost a a bundle so it seems to be I have to be searching for diamonds for countless hours just to buy one crate.
Am I doing something wrong because this game right now just seems boring and repetitive.Comment

Re: Far Cry 2
I played for about 3 hours tonight and I am not feeling the game either. From a technical standpoint, I think what Ubisoft has done here is utterly amazing. Graphically this game is very nice. Driving mechanics are great too. I really hate the respawning of enemies. It drives me nuts after having cleared an area only to drive past it and these guys are coming after me in full force. This does feel a lot like a FPS Mercenaries game. Which is not bad at all, just wish I could get into it more.
There really is something off-putting about this game when you're initially trying to get into it. I think once i figured out how to utilize gameplay mechanics and understood how the game should really be played, this game grew on me immensely.
Its not perfect by any means, but it has some great moments...I say stick with it and play it straight for 2-3 hours and once you get over the initial unfamiliarity of it, it really is a great title.Comment

Candy/Geo/Gears, I was in the same boat as you when I first started playin the game. Hell, I bought it at launch and havent gotten into until this weekend.

I need to figure out how to take care of respawns. If anyone can help, that would be nice. This is probably so far my biggest beef.Comment

Re: Far Cry 2
the whole concept of the game is excellent....but the checkpoints ABSOLUTELY killed this game for me. THe missions are well done, but when you're trekking to a mission and you have to kill the same enemies at the same checkpoints, the game loses its momentum and appeal for me anyways.
I remember someone in this thread saying that it'd be ideal that the checkpoints would be reinforced 2 or maybe 3 days after you wipe it out ( some get re-filled after 1 day, the next post 2 days , and the next post 3 days) . That solves 2 things.....wiping out checkpoints won't be overly cumbersome and it would make it fun again because you won't know when that post is filled, so there's an extra level of suspense in checking out that post. Also, it's a lot more realistic
In the game now, after literally 5 min, the checkpoints re-fill. It gets old and gets old really fast. The main reason why i returned the game.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to add some civilians in there. I know it'll take more effort, but the lack of people in the game hurt the overall feel of the game for me.
Hopefully, they come out next game with a similar game but those issues fixed, because the whole idea of the game is excellent. and add that with smart Ai that's already in this iteration, game could really be awesome.Comment
