          Re: Far Cry 2

          Here's something

Most shotguns, on the other hand, require modifications to barrel, like gas flow ports. Acceptable shotgun silencing effect is possible with subsonic ammo only because of the loud sonic crack of regular supersonic shotgun ammo.

The Shotgun Reflex Suppressors have a perforated barrel extension tube inside its body (photo above) running all the way through it, which will keep both shot and slugs from colliding suppressor elements. Although the tube is unchoked, the perforations perform the same effect as a choke by braking outer shots, making the suppressor about equal to a 3/4 choke with shots.

The limitations with suppressing shotguns are: 1 - With standard supersonic ammo the flight noise of shot is so high, that the suppressed noise is only 5 - 6 dB lower than as unsuppressed. If one gets or can load subsonic ammo, the noise reduction is quite enough for effective hearing protection. 2 - Only single barrel shotguns can be suppressed with reasonable amount of work. 3 - Suppressor affects balance and sight line of the shotgun.

Shotgun Reflex Suppressors are individually designed and built by special order for each shotgun. They are not available for export.

I was really hoping they'd be adding more to the single player game, like another map.

This second map is quite intense. I'm assuming there is going to be a third.

There's an article up at Gamespot right now about DLC for Far Cry 2 and what's interesting is scanning the comments at the bottom of the page. There's alot of people hating on the game talking about how it's supposedly filled with bugs and glitches. To be honest I really haven't noticed much of anything in that regard. I think FC2 is a game that takes a little time and effort to get into but once you do things heat up significantly the farther you get into the game. I think maybe some people just aren't patient enough to let a game build........they want it all full speed ahead from the opening minute.

Absolutely agree with your take. It takes a while to get going but once it does it is stellar. And I have only had the game freeze up on me one time and I have logged many, many hours playing. Any glitches I have seen have been of the clipping variety and extremely minor.

Yes, no freezes. Pretty neat, I was in this huge lake trying to navigate a boat to an area where I might cut off a land convoy and looked to my left and there was a battle going on and troops were dropping smoke grenades. I knew not to land there. I also picked up a sniper rifle off a dead rebel and it has the lazer beam (pretty neat). It's jammed up on me a few times, but that lazer beam really helps hit those rebels that are always in motion and trying to flank you. Right now I'm carrying that, the flame thrower (great for close in combat) and the M79 grenade launcher, (plus the standard machete).

Perhaps the under appreciated game of the year.

Well the only simulatiry is they are both longer than usual type games. Fallout is an RPG of sorts where you level up your player/abilities etc..

in Far Cry there really isn't any leveling up but rather getting enough diamonds to buy new weapons. You can also use weapons you find etc...so it's more of an open world FPS on steroids. Some of the best explosion/fires and the physics are pretty sweet.

Can't go wrong with either game as I feel thet both are must buy/play
