I think it unlocked for me after completing the Star Cup in the 100cc division. Now, I only race as my Mii.

Just played this for the first time yesterday with the wheel. Very addicting... runs up there with Brawl for best Wii multiplayer game.

The only thing you guys will find with the wheel is that once you get to 100cc and 150cc in the Grand Prix, it's almost impossible to do well. The game just moves too fast for you to make precise moves with the wheel. When I finished 50cc entirely with the wheel and started in on 100cc, that's when I started exploring different control schemes.

After playing a bit of single player, I went and played ten races against random people worldwide... couldn't get past 3rd place. The interesting part is that the two ranked above me were always, but not the same, Japanese players (the rest were non-japanese players)! Do they know something about the game that I don't?

Tried this on my lunch break and it works like a charm! This game is going to eat up way too much of my life.

I may, may, actually play a videogame online for the first time in my life!

I'll add you this afternoon Yudd, maybe we can race together. I didn't play any worldwide races, just regional so I'd be matched up with people that just got the game. I think you can use karts that you've unlocked in Grand Prix, so those that have done that might have a little more of an advantage. there was one guy when I was playing online that was just really far ahead of everyone. I haven't gotten all the shortcuts in the courses down yet though, and maybe he did.

Okay....just did a quick test: My wife and I popped in Excite Truck and used the Wii-ls for it (I picked up an extra one at Wal-Mart). The trucks handled SOOOOOO much better with the wheel than the other method. It was so much easier to keep a straight line and find center than just holding the Wiimote horizontally. I wasn't sure if it would work as the pivoting in Excite Truck worked a little differently than in Mario Kart.

If some of you just got a Wii and/or enjoy Mario Kart, you owe it to yourself to at least rent Excite Truck. It's like MK, but less weapons, more speed, and more crashes. If only it were online as well....it'd be a BLAST!

Now back to Mario Kart. I'm loving it more and more as I play.

I'll be picking this up today or tomorrow and add my code and my fiance's code... she loves Mario Kart and the online play has been way overdue! Can her and I play at the same time together online??

At first I really hated the new POW weapon but my opinion changed very quickly. This weapon is phenomenal for those people who are in the lead and try to hang on to three red shells or something similar for two and a half laps.

What's everyone's opinion on the new lightening cloud? Does it automatically start as soon as you get it? I can't tell, but it seems like it's not a good item to pick up.

I hate when I get that thundercloud. It's irritating, LOL. I like the POW block too.

The thundercloud has about a 10 second timer. During that time before it shrinks you, if you ram any other racer, you pass it off to them.

Kind of a funky item....sucks if you're all alone, but awesome if you're in a pack!
