Because this is the first GTA game for current gen consoles and it's coming from Rockstar, a small part of me thought they might really go outside the box in terms of the storyline.

An interesting storyline (and extremely controversial) could have been an American that some how gets recruited by a terrorist group. And of course the goal of the game is to kill Americans (with the big target being the US President) on American soil.

No offense but...what a terrible idea, probably the worst i've heard in a long time. I doubt very few Americans would really want to play a game where they kill innocent people. Even as much as I LOVE GTA, and it's my favorite non-sports game of all time, I'd never purchase such garbage. I'm sure it'd sell gangbusters to the Al Queda organizations though.

I actually wont mind the character if the gameplay follows suit. He seems to be more gritty and not afraid to get his hands dirty. Frankly, if thats the character, he looks/acts like he has been through some sh!t. i hope it has more of a "concealed weapons" approach as opposed to the big rocket launchers and stuff. I also hope the hand to hand combat is re-done and is has a more realistic street fighting feel to it.

LOL! You just described the GTA series. In recent GTA games you can go around and kill hookers, cops, people just walking around, etc... I bet you the majority of people that have played the GTA series have killed at least one innocent person just for fun.

The storyline I propose might be banned in certain areas, which might actually help sales elsewhere. I know there was a Manhunt lawsuit over in Europe and sales actually went up due to all the press.

I should have said "I doubt very few American would like to play as a terrorist killing innocent Americans when we are in a real life or death war with real terrorists and real Americans dying"...and that has not been done before in GTA and never should be...but I think you knew what I meant.

WOW- game looks awesome. Can't wait to snipe some of those people carrying those grocery bags- don't get me wrong, I love Crackdown but there's a lot more fun to be had in the GTA world.

This game is going to be so freaking awesome.

Personally, I hope they get my old stomping grounds (Greenwich Village) down There was a lot I liked about the openness of San Andreas, but there's something about being in Liberty City that just draws me in. The funny thing was that I bought San Andreas but didn't touch it for a few months. After I did, I was hooked. Excellent voice acting and just a damn fun game. GTA is as fun as it gets with console games.

The Russian accent is sweet- CJ was my favorite character just cause he screamed early 90s but this is a new perspective too. Can't wait to see the soundtrack

I think what could be different to the main character may be some sort of morality system? Maybe multiple storylines based on the actions you choose? I dunno, Im just speculating. With the huge jump from the 2D GTA's to GTA3, I am really expecting something phenomenal from this game besides killing hookers and stealing cars.

Yeah, the end of this year is going to involve a rise in sales of the PS3 and 360 with Halo and this beauty. I am going to put a nice groove into my couch this fall

In case you missed it, the GTA IV trailer broke the internet earlier today. While we don't know the background of the protagonist, game site PSX Extreme guesstimates that the character is based on famed Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov, who appeared in the Owen Wilson movie Behind Enemy Lines. The actor has won something like nine Best Actor awards in his home country. PSX Extreme writes:

Take a look at the comparison pic of Mashkov and GTA IV's character. Notice the similarity in eyes, nose, lips, the large ears, the scruffy beard, and the short hair? While the GTA character may look a bit more cartoonish, we still think that the resemblance may have been what Rockstar was aiming for.

BTW I can't stop watching the teaser...the graphics and people's body models seem to be the same...o and I just seen what could be Brighton Beach. That town got it's history with all the connections to the Russian mafia.

I think they still have those stiff hands though. One thing that I'm wondering is what the physics engine is looking like. Definitely looks beautiful though. I'm impressed that they surpassed my expectations. Amazing how they reached that. I wonder how alive the city is and if their is a difference between the types of people in the day vs. night. I hope their is a realistic day and night time difference/ambiance. So many great games coming out now. I'm going broke. What about you guys??

People are saying this game is actually going to take place in Liberty State. That Liberty City is just a small section of the entire game. Pretty crazy if true.

You guys might want to check out this thread. Read deepthroatgta4 posts. This has to be a Rockstar employee.

One thing that GTA didn't quite get right that I even think a game like Need For Speed: Most Wanted got right was a good freeway system. If you guys played both games, you would know what I mean. That is all for now.

I mean, I know that no freeways will be running directly through Manhattan, but anywhere else.

I also hope they revert back to a camera similar to that in Vice City. San Andreas had way too low of a camera.
