I think the instructions to get it are on the back of your Rock Band 2 manual. If I recall correctly, it involves typing in the 20-digit code found there, along with your XBL Gamertag / PSN ID, into a website.

Got some of the drum pads for Christmas. They seem to work well. It feels like they might cost me a note here or there, but no big problems out of them so far.

Do any PS3 players with the wireless drum set (the one that comes in the RB2 box set) experience occasional disconnects with the drums? A friend and I were playing tonight after getting the game for Christmas and the drums were disconnecting from the dongle quite frequently. The game was not bringing up a disconnect message... the song would continue but the drums would not work. The power lights would remain on on the drum set but the red light on the drum USB dongle would start flashing (indicating that it was no longer synced up). The only way to get the drums to resync was to flip the power switch on the drums off and back on again.

I searched online and this seems to be a common problem, a lot of people suggested that it might be due to the batteries jarring loose. I'm not entirely sold on this idea, as I tried taping some cardboard to the inside of the battery compartment cover to help them maintain proper positioning and that helped a little bit but we still experienced occasional disconnects. Anyone here have ideas or have had this problem before?

Also, what's the best way to properly calibrate the audio/video lag? When I tried setting it up tonight it gave me lag times of ~110ms, but when playing it felt like I had to strum the notes about a half-second later than it felt like I should in order for them to register.

Other than these two issues, this game is very fun and extremely addictive.

            Two things on this:

            1) I believe there are at least 2 models of the wireless RB2 drums. I remember researching this before I got the drums, but one of the models had issues with the disconnecting, the other one didn't. Maybe you ended up with the model that has issues with this. I would head over to the Rock Band forums for advice on this. You'll probably be able to get some good help.

            2) When you're using some wired devices and some wireless devices, you'll probably have different results with the same calibration settings. My setup must be pretty RB friendly, because I don't notice too much difference between using my wireless drums and my wired X-plorer. Make sure you try out the calibration test instead of just manually setting it. I calibrate to my drums rather than the guitar. Like I said, I've had good results, but your experience may vary.

If you are using the original batteries that came with the drum kit than that could be an issue as well. My batteries lasted me over 20 hours of play time easily. Had Rock Band 2 since the beginning of November and I just changed them out yesterday. Not because it said the batteries were running low but because I was missing some notes that I knew I was hitting. Everything is all good now.

I second getting some Grateful Dead songs. I'm not a fan of there stuff at all but there songs are very fun to play.

I have had a number of issues with my drums disconnecting on RB2. It made my furious. Especially when you are in the middle of a song and all of the sudden you fail. Ticked!

Anyway, hopefully, mine was just a battery issue because I switched the original batteries out last night and played almost 2 hours on the drums without a single issue.

Good times with RB2 last night. "Mr. Brightside" is just as fun as I thought it would be. I may have to download some of No Doubt's stuff.

Any fantastic stories about Rock Band and their family/friends during the holiday season?

I managed to play for the first time with my family as well as my girlfriends family.

Absolute blast. Got my step-mom to sing some classic stuff. Her singing More Than A Feeling was great.

I think they finally understand why I play this game so much.

Yeah, replacing the batteries along with adding some cardboard on the inside of the battery compartment door allowed us to play for a while with no disconnects. Hopefully I won't have many more problems with it, as it was extremely frustrating. It would be different if the game paused automatically when it happened, but it just kept going. So I kept glancing over at the drum USB dongle every once in a while just to make sure it wasn't flashing, and if it was I tried to hit the start button on my guitar as fast as I could so we could get the drums reconnected.

Speaking of the start button, my wireless guitar has two buttons labeled "SELECT." The bottom one acts as the START button would, but it is mislabeled. Is anyone else's guitar like this or did I just get "lucky"?

Also, does anyone use any protective devices (rubber drumstick tips, additional padding on the drum heads, etc.) to keep their drums in good shape? During my troubleshooting search last night I found a lot of complaints of the drum heads getting deformed and some people suggested taking some of the above measures to avoid this.

I just got my RB2 drumset for the PS3 today... you mention defects... The PS logo in the jewel button on my set is upside down!

I had a set of protective/adhesive foam pads (kinda like a mouse pad, but thinner) that I used for my RB1 drumset... I put my extra unused set on the RB2 drums and found out that my accuracy went way down with them on... Might be because of the sensitivity settings which that the old set lacked... Anyone else have any luck?

Hooked up my 2 cymbals today and they are AWESOME!

No double hits or hit loss problems to speak of.

Those sons of ******* were hard to set up though. Well worth it though, i am having so much fun now hitting the yellow hat, and green crash now.

Also, they arent as loud as I thought they would be, and are SUPER sensitive. I can barely tap them and they will register.

                        Thumbs up!

Finally got on the RB wagon yesterday. Been jumping around on the instruments the past couple of days. Drums are tougher than what I thought they were going to be but I'm getting the hang of them. I absolutely suck at vocals, though. I have a cold and my throat hurts like a bitch, so I'm hoping when they clears up I can actually get through some songs but I'm breakin' glass right now.

I need to get some more credits so I can download some songs, but I really haven't seen a whole lot I would want outside of the Pixies, Nirvana, The Who, and random songs from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Soundgarden, Sleater-Kinney, and a couple others. I really wish they had a better country selection - The Band would be awesome.

                            Welcome aboard.

I will say this, don't just look at band names and that's it.

Honestly, you will know some songs that you had no idea the name of it was or who previously sang it. And there will be songs that you may not particular like or hate but you'll get it and they will be a blast to play.

I just bought The Cars album tonight even though I only knew 3 songs prior and had a blast playing. "You're All I've Got Tonight" was extremely fun on guitar.

Definitely. Tons of stuff out there, so there's almost always something for everyone. There are some songs I've stumbled across that I had no idea who sang it, but had heard it before. Tempted by Squeeze was one of these.
