Well, bad news. I was off the last two days so I played the hell out of my short campaign. We were about to take Georgia which for the British gives you the 13 colonies. It was 1747. We successfully attacked....and CTD. Reloaded, tried it again, same thing.

It's sad that this game is unplayable for so many. In a few months this game will be stellar. But CA does not get a pass for releasing this mess any more than a 2K or any other developer in my eyes.

Yeah, it's weird though. I've got a laptop with an NVidia card. I was playing fine, even then updated my graphics driver, and then was still fine...Yet I hear of freezes and stuff.

Side note though, that's why I really try to avoid PC gaming. Drivers and crap make things near impossible.

Not only the drivers & crashes, buying a new system every year is almost impossible for many. There is nothing like getting comfortable on your couch and looking at your big screen

Only trouble I had was my Russia campaign till 1780is the its ctd, had to start over, and naval battles also. Other then thats its worked fine.
Great game, was expecting more though.

Just had a CTD in my France Campaign.

Happened right at an "End Turn" so I'm thinking it might be toast.

I've had a good campaign going with the British. I've finally started to own naval battles (thanks to technology, an amazing amount of money, and the double line formation), and I now own the seas around Europe and North America. I really wish they improved the AI in terms of realizing when it is time to accept peace. I had just defeated a huge French army in France without decent casualties. I then go to take France (though at this point I just want a peace agreement). They are outmatched like you wouldn't believe. I siege the city, then break it off to offer peace, they refuse a white peace. I then easily take Paris. Game over for France. Sweden also is making some really dumb decisions. They went with their usual "war of succession" against me, only I am allied with Russia. After some easy naval victories, their navy is gone. Russia has taken all of their possessions near them, along with the home province of Sweden. Prussia gobbled up anything Sweden took in western germany. They are down to Denmark. I just defeated their last big army, and they refuse a white peace, that would end their war basically.

I upgraded my memory, but still get some crashes. The game is pretty much impossible to play more than 2 hours without a crash. Even if you leave it on and do nothing for an hour, it will crash. I really do enjoy the game, but the crashes and the ai are lacking in some regards. The patch was moved back a little bit, should have an announcement early in the week. I really hope they kind of power down the cherokee. If I declare war against them, they will suck up the Thirteen Colonies in about 5 turns (i've seen it before), and they have expanded up to Canada. While I would like them to be a challenge, that is a bit much as they can hit you with more full stacks than a European power could ever dream of.

I'm not touching mine. I actually got it more stable with a new Nvidia driver and changed a few settings. I'll stay on the original build.

I got this game last week and so far it hasn't crashed on me and I am having a blast so far. I have never played a total war game before, been a civ player.

I hope this patch doesn't mess up my game like it has others from that link you posted Jistic.

Looks in Wallet.....Still sees the $1500 that was going to go for new system just to play this game.......Smiles and remembers patience is a virtue.

I really feel sorry for all the people who have spent alot of money just to play this game. Its too bad. On paper, this is the game I've always wanted since I first fired up an Odyssey back in the 70's.

But it kills me to know it has so many issues. Looks like it could be a great game.

I really feel sorry for all the people who have spent alot of money just to play this game. Its too bad. On paper, this is the game I've always wanted since I first fired up an Odyssey back in the 70's.

But it kills me to know it has so many issues. Looks like it could be a great game.

What's weird is that I don't notice a damn thing...no freezes, etc. Now I'm no hardcore TW guy who sims everything and notices every detail, but to me the game is great...

Thats what I can't get a handle on is there 1,000,000 people who are playing this game just and 5,000 people on the forums screaming bloody murder or are there alot of problems.

After reading all the stuff on the TW forums, I can only imagine what a normal casual gamer thinks when they wander into the NCAA or Madden or 2K baseball forums. They must think those games are broken beyond repair just like my impression of Total War is.

I have gotten the game reasonably stable. I have a theory that some NVidia drivers do better than others. I've had the CTD but after a different driver and some monkeying I got past the point where it crashed after about 10 tries.

I've tweaked settings for awhile, and did add the light smoke mod and drum and piccolo mod. So I am enjoying the game now. However, this has been a mess it sounds like. THe CTD's are legit. I was fortunate enough to be able to fix 'em though.

I'm going back to Rome. I can't believe how bad this game is, from steam to MP even grand campaign I don't even think time will fix this mess. I was under the impression steam would help clean up the rampant cheating and hacking.

There is a huge patch coming out tomorrow. A list of changes will be posted soon as well.

I'm still playing this game and enjoying it. The AI is a little goofy sometimes but I've only had 1 CTD in all my hours as Sweeden.
