I have an old rig, with only Medium settings. But I've had no crashes. I did have one lockup on the campaign map which was so bad I had to power down. But that was it. Seems pretty stable to me so far.

Same with me, except it froze trying to exit to windows. I had to power down but after that nothing so far. Ship battles look great on medium but land battles look kind of awkward.

So is everyone playing silky smooth with no crashes.

If you go over to the CA forums its like noone can even run this game. Over here, the 10 or so guys who have it haven't reported any problems, except maybe 1 person.

Is it reasonable to expect CA to patch the game to include naval invasions?

I've had about 5 crashes in a week. Not too bad though, since the game saves every turn. Half of which may be due to Windows Update refusing to give up.

Naval invasions should be fixed at some point. It took awhile for them to do it in Rome, but in the expansion pack naval invasions happened.

Question for those of you who have played the demo and the full version:

If I am able to play the demo and be happy with how it runs, will it run basically the same in the full retail?

And if CA doesn't fix the invasions the mod community will.

Last night I "suffered" my first experience with the Pueblos. I had a full stack of professional soldiers and ended up going against the Pueblos full stack with a half stack reinforcement. HOLY CRAP! The Cherokees having nothing on them. I got rid of the Cherokees rather easily, but the Pueblos beat the living hell out of me and sent me back to Mexico. Time to recruit a whole lot more cavalry!

You could take some games to gamestop and get 70 cents apiece for them.

Try ebay, from the sounds of it over at the TW forums, Hundreds of people can't play this game for whatever reason and are putting them up for bid. I'd be a little leary of buying this game used, what happens if they don't ship the cd key or burn it and keep their account active with steam? Just something I thought of.

Honestly at this point, you might as well wait a few months, get it cheap and by then some really great mods and pacthes will be out.

I'd have no problem waiting a while. I have trouble waiting on sports games because they release a new one every year. But, titles like this, I can wait.

What's the best mod site for ETW?

There aren't any mods out right now for ETW as far as I know, but I suspect that totalwar.org will carry them, just look in the forums. As far as Rome went, that was the site where you could get links for pretty much everything, not quite sure about Medieval II.

hmm i never noticed it till the smoke mod came out that thats what was completely lacking during battles...lol and i remember seeing that on the Gettysburg movie at how smokey the battlefield got and i never really noticed it ingame..

theres also a sound mod...havent found it yet or the guy has yet to release it but it sounds good ingame!

I'm running a E6750, 2 gigs ram with an 8800gt on xp... some settings on ultra, most on high and am running smooth. Have not had one crash yet in 22.9 hours!:wink:
