    Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)

The last RPGs I've played were Two Worlds and Oblivion. This one looks interesting and sounds like the combat has evolved to something more advanced. I'd like to play another good RPG again so, I'll be looking forward to trying it out.

Speaking of Diablo... I cant wait to play Diablo 3.

I imported back in February. Incredible game, Demons Souls is this years version of Valkyria Chronicles, in my opinion. Just one of those games that comes out of nowhere and grabs you.

Demon’s Souls Pre-order Bonus Expands, Now Also Includes Full Soundtrack

As you may already know, we’re offering fans who pre-order either version of the game (Standard or Deluxe, at participating retailers only) a full-color, 40-page art book featuring sketches, designs, and renders that wonderfully show off the game’s gritty medieval aesthetic. On its own, this is a pretty nice bonus (says the publisher offering it), considering it is being thrown in at no additional cost to the customer, but we’ve recently decided to take things a step further:

        Resist, if you dare.

In addition to the art book, fans who pre-order will now ALSO receive the game’s FULL soundtrack CD. That’s right, we’re going to throw 24 tracks (about 71 minutes) of music into the pre-order bonus as well. And if you’ve ever heard the game in action, you likely know that the music is haunting, atmospheric, sweeping, and orchestral. Don’t worry, people who have already pre-ordered: the music disc is secured on the back inside cover of the art book, so you won’t miss out!

So, whether you reserve (at participating retailers) the Standard edition of the game, which would net you the game, art book, and soundtrack CD, or whether you upgrade to the Deluxe edition, which gets you the game, a 150+ page strategy guide, a collectible slip case, the game’s complete musical score, and a premium art book, you’re going to be getting a heck of a deal.

Sample from Official Demon’s Souls Strategy Guide

Of course, these extras are in addition to all the changes and enhancements coming to the North American release of the gaming, such as:
        • All-new North American cover art
        • All-new North American online servers (which ensures a level playing field for newcomers)
        • An improved localization, which addresses many grammar/inaccuracy issues from the overseas version

Join us, won’t you, as we venture into the Kingdom of Boletaria on October 6th, 2009. It’s going to be a tough battle to deliver the realm from evil, but hey, at least you’ll have a ton of free swag to comfort yourself if you happen to reserve your copy today.

          Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)

I can't beat the Tower Knight to save my life. I'm at Soul Level 22 and the guy just kicks my ***, and it's only the 2nd level of World 1. I had his health down to about the quarter mark in soul form, but that's the best I could do. He always nails me with that shield smash. I want to beat him myself, but may have to summon my friend in to help, I take out all the archers on the top of the castle first, you pretty much have to, and then attack the Knight, but I can't seem to time the roll through and lock on/off and get out of the way of the sword slash/shield smash combo in time, any suggestions would be great. This game is awesome though, toughest game I've played next to probably Ninja Gaiden II.

Man, I just watched some gameplay footage on Youtube, and this has definitely got my attention. I'm liking how just one shot from one of the tower guards drains your life a considerable amount. Definitely looks like you need to think before you go running into a potential ambush.

This and Dragon Age should fulfill my RPG needs for the rest of the year.

another amazing review this one from gamefocus 9.3

                            Pros
+ Fantastic concept game with unique gameplay
                            + Great graphics and audio
                            + Awesome gameplay
+ Plenty of replay value with the classes
                            + Unique multiplayer

                            Cons
                            - Niche product that will not appeal to the average gamer that only enjoys easy games
                            - A bit too linear
                            - Multiplayer is not your standard multiplayer

                            Value

To put it simply the value of this game is extremely high, so high it is the kind of game I can see gamers playing for the next few years, hopefully until we see Demon’s Souls II. But the value of the game is only high for those gamers who are hardcore. Soft squishy gamers need not apply.

                            Bottom Line

If you are not a hardcore gamer or a gamer who can play your average action RPG on a difficulty above easy you probably will hate yourself for putting a single dollar out for this game. But if you are a gamer looking for a true challenge with plenty of extreme action, fun replay value, great multiplayer and a unique twist on everything then this is a game you must own.

Demon’s Souls is a heavy duty action game where you will use sword, magic or arrows against a wide variety of monsters in real time. Each kill brings with it a soul which you use as currency to buy weapons

I bought the Asia version and it is a really good game but it is tough and you will die often.
I do like the combat and you have to be vary aware of what weapon types hurt which enemies. The neat thing is that you can leave messages to other users about enemies and other things on the ground for them to read so the game has a user hint system built in. The only problem is that my version and the US version are not on the same servers so if I want to play with others I have to get the new one even though the Asian one is full English voices.

But I must stress that you could get frustrated with the game early on because any enemy can kill you in a couple of hits if you are not careful.

This game has probably the most generic, random Japanese game sounding title ever.
