The lady in black should be in the nexus. You may need to play awhile for her to show up. I am a ways in and can't really remember when she appears. Anyway, talk to her and she will tell you to go up the stairs and speak to a guy then you go back to the lady in black and you will have the opportunity to level up. The guy up the stairs is a little hard to find. He is not at the extreme top where you go to see the online leaders. Below that, step out onto a balcony after climbing the stairs and look down. You will see many figures seated along a walkway. The one you are looking for is sitting by a candle. The rest of the figures you cannot interact with but you can this guy, actually I think it's a female. She tells you about the nexus then go back and level up with the lady in black. You can level up at any time after that as long as you have souls.

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
Okay, for anyone that has this, I have one question:
Where do I improve my stats? I read in the manual that you're supposed to talk to the "maiden in black" (probably the same one that revives you after the tutorial), but I've looked all around the Nexus and can't find her. Is she somewhere else?
I ask because I've been trying to go through the first level with no stat increases through souls at all. I get that the game is challenging (oh yes, it definitely is), but I can't help but feel I'm missing something.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
Yep....discovered that when I beat said boss a few minutes before leaving for work this evening. Man, that was gratifying after the 15 or so deaths throughout the first area (and I was actually trying to be careful!). Now I get to worry about other players trying to kill me in addition to the enemies - fun!
Thanks. One more - is there any way to sell items I don't need (i.e. the drops from enemies that are worse than my own equipment)?Comment

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
Question guys. How do you go back to nexus without losing your souls? I have quite a bit now, but I am afraid that if I go back I will lose them all. I want to upgrade my weapon.
By the way, this game is so bad ***!!!Comment

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
- Touch the archstone (glowing stone with a sword sticking out of it) at the beginning of the level. Easiest way, and more possible than you might first think due to the area design (you'll see what I mean).
- Use a shard of archstone (can be found in that first area, and other places I'm sure)
Both will teleport you back to the nexus with all your souls, and also recover your HP (not sure about MP, as I chose a class which recovers MP automatically because of a special ring) It won't bring you above half HP in soul form, though.Last edited by bcruise; 10-10-2009, 06:31 AM.Comment

I went into my local TRU today to scope out what I will be picking up tomorrow. They did not have it at the store I went to. Good luck to those who are looking to pick this game up during the sale.Comment

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
Simply put..the game is fantastic and yet infuriating at the same time...
Not a bad infuriating but rather a "Mother F'er..I'm going to cut your F'n heart out .....eventually..." type of infuriating...
Love it so far.
In the beginning I was like...this isn't so bad.....boy was I early in my thinking....Joshua:

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
You have to really choose between continuing on the same path and jumping to another realm. Both are hard as hell.
I love how there is no margin for error in this game, so refreshing when most games today are so easy to complete. You really have to think before you advance at any given time, especially when you don't know what's ahead and have limited resources.
Question about Phantoms. What do the stats indicate when you look at the blue writing? I think the letters are S, A, B, C, and D. Followed by a %. I am tempted to summon them, but I am afraid someone will try to kill me.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 10-11-2009, 01:58 AM.Comment

Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)
The only phantoms that can kill you are black phantoms and thats only if you are in corporeal form in a level with an unbeaten boss.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions
