Re: Mass Effect 2
I should know this as a ME geek, but:
SpoilerWhen I defeat the Collectors, finish up the main story and continue that save, does the side missions and DLC (particularly Arrival and LotSB) count towards that play through, or is everything locked after I defeat them?
Anyway, here's what I did in my most recent ME2 paragon run:
SpoilerTold Illusive Man to suck it and blew up the base. The crew of the Normandy didn't survive (didn't send anyone with them) and Thane was the only one to parish. I decided to have Jacob do the biotic field to keep the seeker swarms off of us, but I guess Jacob wasn't a powerful enough biotic to throw that energy on them. Thane got swarmed and flown off.Last edited by TheVinylHippo; 02-24-2012, 02:39 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Well...
SpoilerI'm waiting to find out what happens depending on if you blow up the base or give it to the Illusive man, then I'll make my choice. I managed to get through the final area without losing any either. I cheat and use the Mass Effect Wiki as I play, but I like guiding the story the way I want to have it go... lets me feel more in control.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I've only had one playthrough (a mostly paragon Vanguard), and I'm going to fire up another playthrough soon. I got about halfway through ME1 with a Soldier once (and I got RROD, and somehow erased my HDD when converting to a bigger one), and partway through with an Infiltrator. What's your guys favorite class across the first two games? I loved the Vanguard in the first game, but didn't like it too much in ME2.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
I never really been able to play with anything other than a Vanguard. It's just so much fun, and it's even better on ME3. Nova, Biotic Charge and that Biotic Punch (totally awesome, even better than the omni-blade, in my opinion) are great.
Solider is by far the most boring to me, though. Never really bad fun with the Soldier class.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
for both ME1 and ME2 my favorites were Sentinel and Vanguard, with slight advantage to Sentinel.
basically, I just like the mixed classes. Infiltrator is just too long range for my taste. my first character in ME1 was an Engineer. while I still had fun, it just felt too 1 sided with nothing but techs. Vanguard in ME2 was a lot of fun with the new charge ability. Sentinel in ME1 was balanced(singularity as my bonus power) to me and felt more like a biotic with a couple of tech abilities. In ME2, Sentinel was a little overpowered to me, but it still was fun and was able to take on pretty much everything. Sentinel can be used as a mid to long range support, or as a close range tank with it's tech armor.
least favorite, soldier.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
Infiltrator all the way. I haven't tried too many other classes though. I think I tried an adept of some kind of ME1, but my canon play through was Infiltrator and I played it way more than any other save.PS: You guys are great.

Unfortunately, it seems like the game itself calls for Commander Shepard to be a soldier. I wish they would incorporate your class into the cut scenes sometimes. Here's an example:
SpoilerIf you played Lair of the Shadow Broker, there's the part where Tela Vasir (think I spelled that right) gets chased down by Shepard, they crash through the glass and they're fighting in mid-air. I would have loved for my Shepard to fight back with his biotics within the cut scene.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 2
The game very obviously considers soldier Shepard as the only true Shepard. Why else would they have cutscenes where s/he is holding an assault rifle? Only the soldier, before weapon training half way through, can even use it.
Also...why does the machine pistols and regular heavy pistols both store on the same hip? It looks like to switch from heavy to machine you put the gun on your hip then take it off again.
You'd think they wouldn't design the game the character models to have such blatant hammerspacing. But eh, it is what it is.Comment

I like the Infiltrator class. Still let me use sniper rifles, and I like the tech powers a lot.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
