Anybody get this today?I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Re: The Sims 3
I watched my wife play it for a couple hours today and she wasn't all that happy with the game. My wife played it on her PC laptop when it first came out. The main gripe she had was that she couldn't figure out how to change the current household like you can in the PC version. Also there is no total control over the Sims.Comment

EDIT- If you can elaborate on not being able to change the household that would be appreciated as well.Comment

Re: The Sims 3
You can change your household, you just go to the menu and select it. It's a bit different than the PC version, you don't zoom out and change households, instead you quit your game and select another household from the menu.
As for no total control, it's the exact same as the PC version. A lot of people thought when it came to the console that your joystick would "totally control" the sim as in how 3rd person action games, ie you select a guy and your stick moves him/her around the screen. But it's not like that, it's the same as the PC version where you click on your sim, then you click on the floor over here and he/she walks over to that spot. Personally I'm glad they kept it the same, giving total control over the sim would have made it a non-Sims game IMO.
As for my thoughts on it, it's simply awesome. I played from 6pm to 1am nonstop and it's as addictive as ever. The graphics are very nice and the new karma powers add something nice to the game that the PC version doesn't have. My only criticism is that the loading times between the parts of the city can take a little longer than I'd like, although I'm thinking if I install the game to my Xbox that will help (hoping). Also, the game did crash on me when I was creating my 1st sim and I had to re-start over but after that it was fine.
If anyone knows of a money cheat it'd be greatly appreciated!! I never played the Sims on the PC without my Bill Gates money and I'm getting a bit tired of not living a life of virtual leisure on my console version, LOL.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Sims 3
Oh and another word on total control....your sim behaves just like the PC version, you give them commands and MOST of the time they follow them but they also have a mind of their own and sometimes do things on their own. So perhaps that's what folks mean as well by not having "total control". But if that's the case then that's never how the sims has worked. The console version works just like all the past PC versions in this respect.
On a related note, I thought it was funny how I had company come to the door briefly and I came back and my teenager sim had skipped school and went to the park and was making out with his girlfriend. I got a good laugh out of that one.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Sims 3
Yeah it's about the same from what I can see. Lots of stuff there! The exchange is really nice, you can see all kinds of user created content right from the same screen as you see the regular stuff. The only thing I haven't really figured out yet is how to raise/lower the walls and stuff like you do in the PC. I did it once but don't know how I did it. I'm going to have to take the building tutorial and I'm sure it will explain it in there.
So much more fun playing it on the couch with the girlfriend on my 67" tv as opposed to playing solitaire on my 24" monitor in a computer chair!!Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

I agree man, I agree...although what I plan to do is just trade off the controller with my g/f and go that route.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Sims 3
I always get sucked into buying The Sims games. not that the game is bad or anything, but it always feels weird playing the game, like I'm not supposed to be playing it. lol
just picked up the Late Night expansion for PC.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing what The Sims: Medieval is all about. the pre-alpha demo presentation I saw of it looked pretty interesting.Comment
