Re: Red Dead Redemption
SpoilerThe last batch of missions just killed this game for me. We go through a lot of action packed missions then have to herd cattle, break horses and hunt animals? Again? Seriously? Then we have a scripted sequence where a handful of guys take me out and now I'm stuck playing the whiny *** son whose only real mission is to execute one guy? Why am I not raining hell down on that entire police station full the bureau's cohorts?Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Just finished watching the credits, some thoughts on the story...
SpoilerFor most of the game I thought it was a typical R* storyline: not very memorable, not very well fleshed out, etc..., but like other R* games, it was never actually bad, just never great. They never really defined a villian.
I thought the last few Dutch missions were pretty good as you actually got a picture of Dutch and had some tangible reasons to want to kill him, unlike Williamson who you saw once at the start and the other guy who was barely a footnote. I even liked the farm missions with your family, a nice little prologue to the story. They had some interesting characters throughout for sure, but the overarching story was typically boring up until the last few Blackwater missions IMO.
Then they had to ruin it with the ending. I don't mind tragic endings, but at least fit them into the plot somehow. It felt extremely lazy to me to have them come after you 6 missions after you finished the job. There was no justification for it in the plot, if they wanted you dead, they would have shot you after you killed Dutch. You know, maybe when Ross was holding your pistol two feet away from you? It felt really cheap and it was lazy storytelling to add a shocking twist just for the sake of adding a shocking twist.
I was holding out hope that the last stranger mission would at least attempt to justify Ross's actions, but they didn't even bother.
That's about it for my rant, I can't really remember when such a good game had such a horrible story. I expect boring, derivitive and forgettable storytelling from R*, but this is the first time I thought it was actually really poorly done. I know I'll get over it, but for the time being it has really spoiled my opinion of the game overall. Still a great game, but not quite classic in my book.
Now to finish up the last 1.3%!Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I was able to get the achievement for doing all of the bandit camps in one session by doing them all in private first and then going to a public session and completing only one. I honestly had no idea that was going to happen. I planned on just doing them all in a public session since it didn't open up after doing them in a private session.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: Red Dead Redemption
But the Blackwater to Escalera achievement still has to be in a public session, yes?

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I think that is correct. I haven't seen anything online to the contrary anyway. I still need to do that one. Supposedly you don't have to have the fastest horse in the world to pull it off.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
