Seems like people rely on brief hands on previews which lead to misinformation. Same thing happen with GTA. I'll wait to here word from Rockstar before it's official.

By the way, can we tip cows?

Why?

I'm pretty sure people, even in the Wild Wild West, knew how to not die instantly when they touched the water.

The "instant death when you touch water" thing has always been one of my least favorite things put into video games.

Agreed. While I certainly wouldn't water to be a major game-play factor in a western, I think there should be enough legitimate ways to die fast without having to worry about slipping into a stream or something.

Either way...I'm getting impatient for this game!

I agree.

I obviously don't want any water-based missions or anything like that, nor do I want the water to be a huge factor...but it'd be a MUCH bigger factor in the game if the moment you hit the water, you died.

What I'd love to see would be something like "if you fall into the water, you risk having your possessions float away, or your guns might not work" or something. Not death.

I don't want it to have major game play, but then again I don't want it to be instant contact = death.

I was thinking you could wade streams/rivers, with the risk being that if you venture too far from shore the current carries you to death/rapids. For instance, you could refill your canteen in a stream or spring no problem.

I just don't want people swimming in huge lakes/bodies of water. Just my preference. IMO it would be silly.

My thoughts exactly.

It shouldn't be water = instant death but i think if you were ever going to have a free roam game where it is conceivable that if you tried to swim too far you would drown it would be this one. A lot of these cowboys types wouldn't bathe for weeks let alone go swimming.
