That movie, while entertaining, was a blatant ripoff of A Fistful Of Dollars which in turn was a remake of Yojimbo, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Damn good movie, though. One of my favorites.
I've had a copy of this sitting at home for about 2 months but haven't watched it yet. Will have to check it out soon.

I saw Assassination of Jesse James at Wal-Mart for about $5-7. I should probably pick it up.

Anyway if it wasn't for Christopher Walken that movie would have been forgettable.

                Re: Red Dead Redemption

If you've only seen a few westerns then I suggest you see the Spaghetti Westerns Clint Eastwood did as those were just amazing films. My favorite is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. For a Few Dollars More is also pretty good as well.

There's another Spaghetti Western that I really enjoy that's a bit of a hidden gem from 1971 called A Fistful of Dynamite (or the alternate title Duck, You Sucker) starring Rod Steiger and James Coburn. It's actually a bit humorous at times as well.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Spaghetti Western genre but I mention those movies because I think this game owes a lot to that style of western.

Same here. Tombstone is definetly more action packed and has some great one-liners from Val Kilmer.
But I really enjoy Wyatt Earp as well. They're both different styles and I can appreciate either.

Pale Rider and High Planes Drifter are also a couple favorites of mine.

For those getting into western movies the Spaghetti westerns can be hit or miss. I love them. But they're not for everyone. They can seem slow at times.
But I love the stories, the music and the cinematography.
I just picked up Good, Bad and Ugly on Blu-ray and it's amazing how good this looks being a restored 40-year old film.

Another guilty pleasure of mine is "Maverick" with Mel Gibson. It's a pretty funny movie with some good western grit tossed in.

You're right, Val definitely stole the show.

Still, I really enjoyed the action in it and even some of the side characters were entertaining (ie. Ike Clanton - "I don't take no lip from no bartender neither").
And Michael Biehn as Ringo was great too.

But I still wonder if Kurt Russel was the right choice for Earp. Out of all the characters, he's the one actor that doesn't seem to fit the role well.

On another unrelated note, I wish Quentin Tarantino did a western. There were parts of "Inglorious Basterds" that had me thinking he'd do a great job with that genre.

                              Almost ancient really.
