    Re: Red Dead Redemption

I'm not sure if anybody else follows this Open World Games page on facebook (I think it originated as the State of Decay game page and then morphed into a genre fan page). They posted at the end of last week that R* would have a presence at E3 this year and that RDR's sequel would be announced.

They didn't post a link or anything so its just a rumor to me, but something has to be coming soon.

      Re: Red Dead Redemption

Isn't Rockstar normally "too good" for E3 where they announce there stuff before, after, or during (but not at the convention)?

But you're right, something's gotta come soon. Within the next fifteen months, for sure. I honestly wouldn't bet on this year though.

I pray to god they announce a RDR sequel at E3. I played the hell out of it on 360. It was my favorite game last gen.

I was playing a little Red Dead last night and noticed something at the start up screen. You know where they put the copyright date in small print, well it says 2005-2010. That means they spent 5 years on this game? Don't get me wrong, I DO believe they did take that long to perfect such a masterpiece and we remember how it was delayed (I believe it was supposed to come out in 2009 sometime).

Anyways, if it took 5 years for the last game then 5 years for this game would be like the year 2016 even if they started it in 2011. Maybe I reading into this too much, but I am sure of one thing....Rockstar had better take their time on the next one. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME. We saw what happened when they did that for Redemption.

There was some info released on the internets prior to RDR being released.
Some former employees, who had worked on the project, claimed the game was a mess and that there were numerous issues developing it.
Teams were replaced, employees removed and hired...
That's why it took nearly 6 years to develop.

I believe one of the sources said that Rockstar would need to sell 6M copies to break even.
I think they more than made up for it as it was one of the best selling games of last generation.

I don't know about R* at E3 ever, but Red Dead is likely their next game if the rumors are true. Been rumored that another one was coming after GTA V for awhile. Speculation was that Bully 2 was going to be after the next Red Dead as well.

For starters, I think I'd like to be able to better interact with the water. Whether that mean fjording with animals, rafting, canoeing, fishing, etc. I feel as though there'd be a good chance at such an inclusion, with GTA V's water breakthrough (realistic waves, swimming, underwater treasures).
This is probably a divisive opinion, but I'd like more of an old-school Indian presence. I'm talking about the classic imagery of bows-and-arrows and that kind of stuff.

I found the bow-and-arrow gameplay on "The Last of Us" to be incredibly satisfying (even when taking on enemies with guns), so I know it would be possible to work that sort of stuff into a game where people also have guns.

Of course, to go far enough back in history to a time when Indians were using those old weapons and not using guns, you'd have to go back so far that it might put too many restrictions on the types of guns that could be present in the game. Or they could just say "screw it" and not worry about historical accuracy preventing them from including a fun element of gameplay.

For my money's worth, my wish would be for the game to be strongly tied into the Civil War. And I'd have the story feature 3 or 4 completely different regions/locations (which can actually be physically linked on a huge map, or else just force the player to hop on a train or a ship to reach the other regions).

The Civil War would be neat because you'd have an epic war going on in the background. Kind of like the big revolution that was being fought in the first RDR when you did the part of the storyline that took place in Mexico, except even bigger.

You could set part of the story in D.C., which would be very cool. I've always wanted a GTA set in Washington D.C., so I'd love to see this area in RDR. This would give you a more advanced/developed city setting to play with, plus all the political stories you can play with in the story.

You could set part of the story in the deep south, which would also be cool. Plantations and that kind of thing.

You could set part of the story in the southwest. This would give you your "old west" flavor. New Mexico would actually be a perfect backdrop for this, because they had their own interesting role in the Civil War. You had your basic Union vs. Confederacy stuff, of course, as both side wanted New Mexico for their side. (The Confederates also thought that NM would be their gateway to Colorado and California, and their war effort would have been boosted if they got their hands on all the gold in those places, not to mention the shipping ports in California. Pretty high stakes there.) But you also had the interesting side effect of the war leading to a surge in violence from Indians (who saw forts abandoned, and who saw the local military presence distracted or dwindled), who thought the military wasn't watching as closely as they used to, so they went on a tear because they didn't think there was be repercussions anymore.

The next RDR needs more banks, card games, stagecoachs etc to rob..Robbing that one bank was boring pretty quick. Posse's both good and bad of guys that you recruit to pull off jobs or whatever. They have to go all out this next game and I know Rockstar will make the game great.

I would love to see GTA V style heists make it into the game. Bank robberies, stage coach robberies and train robberies on PS4/XB1 would be awesome.

Funny enough it actually just got mentioned today. According to Pachter (I know) it sounds like it's dead at the moment or they're going to announce it this year at some point. Rockstar just said they have no comments to make on it instead of the "it's still in development" talk they've been giving.
