Free co-op missions coming in June:

it's not often you see DLC as significant as this being promised for free. Rockstar Games has announced a new expansion pack, coming this June to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network...
The "Outlaws to the End" Co-Op Mission Pack will feature six multiplayer missions and be compatible with 2-4 players. The free download will also add Trophies and Achievements for players to unlock.

You're right, most people wouldn't ever notice, but it still kind of pisses me off. At this point in both consoles' lives, I just feel there is no reason for these differences anymore.

Maybe THIS is why the game was delayed for so long...

Very true, both consoles have been out now for 4 and 5 years respectively. There shouldn't be any gimping of features or game structure.

I'll still get it on the PS3 since I'm such a trophy hooker.............plus, I need to get my #1 spot back in the rankings. LOL!

Wasn't the review a few pages back from Aussie gamer on the PS3? He didn't mention a thing about framerate issues..quite to the contrary IIRC. There was only minor texture pop in.

I own both systems so it doesn't matter which one I get it for but I'd prefer the PS3.

I hear you. I just recently purchased a 360 alongside my PS3 so I'll go the Xbox route.
But if this is true (and it's yet to be officially confirmed by other publications) I feel terrible for PS3 owners.
The two consoles have been out for years so I would think this kind of disparity would be gone by now.

Holy crap, can't wait for this. Gonna grab that Amazon pre-order, you basically can't beat that deal. I buy enough crap from them that the $20 card is almost as good as cash... Might use it on UFC Undisputed, even though I was really tempted to get it at GS to get Roy "Tub o' Lovin'" Nelson and the others.

This game is now officially on my radar. I wrote it off at first because with the GTA games I'd always enjoy them for a few days and then get bored with them for some reason. This seems different enough though, and I like the whole western theme much more than the large city theme of GTA games.

Yeah,but 9 times out of 10 it's something you wouldn't notice unless you've played both versions.

My problem is I'm a huge video-quality snob. If I know one game looks better than the other, it bothers me big-time. I wish I wasn't so anal about that stuff.

I feel you on that and I don't have a problem with that. It's the fact that that type of stuff usually leads to fanboy console wars,that's what I have a problem with.

I guess I'm old school. I grew up in the era where nobody really cared about stuff like that. To be honest with you I miss the days where gaming was more about the fun and less about being able to tell what color the characters teeth are.


Anyway,I'm down off the soapbox. Let's get back to the awesomeness that is Red Dead Redemption.

Completely understand. I used to feel the same way.
But then I got into HDTV, Blu-ray and the rest. Now I've turned into a complete HD-Quality snob. hahaha.
But I don't see the need to bash one console over the other. Both have strength's and weaknesses. And both are selling well and will be around for a long while.
To each his own.

I mean I have both systems,so it wouldn't be a problem with me. But I feel the way you do about it. I've never been one to get into that whole "it looks or runs better on this system" crap. As long as the game loads up and I can play it,I'm good.

One thing I'll say about this too, which others have touched on, is a lot of times reviewers will say "one version is far superior/inferior to the other", then I'll have a chance to actually play both, and I would literally need a magnifying glass to tell the difference. I'm not saying this guy is doing this, but I'd be hard pressed to believe agenda doesn't play SOME sort of role in these "comparisons".
