That's how I feel about most PC games... yes, they look nice, but not so nice that I need to spend that kind of money on a proper gaming rig.

Getting a gaming card that will run the game better than what's on both consoles, with consistent framerates, at a higher resolution will only run you $140.

A 5770 is comparable to my two year old 4870 that I run Cry2 on right now.

Dual core E8400 cost $170

The rest of the PC components most people should already have. IMHO spending $310-$400 to turn your PC into a decent gaming rig isn't a lot. And yes, the games may not look infinitely better, but they do look better than the console versions, with consistent frames per second.

Best Buy in store has the 5770's for $100 now...6 series are out now...I'll be upgrading to the 2g or 4gig 6 series soon! Those beast!!!

I'm getting ready to redo the guts (mobo/cpu/gpu/ram) of my computer for around $500, and I should be set for a long while with some nice PC Gaming.

I have a Radeon 5870 and the game runs ultra smooth at 1920x1200.

Yes, but those upgrades are every year or two with the PC. More often if you want to have the best possible graphics.


I finally leveled up enough to start playing Assault mode. Defenders have only soldiers, no nanu suits. Other team with nano suits and pistols only has to extract data from several terminals. Round based, no respawns.

It's very much like Splinter Cell: Spys v Mercs. Good stuff!

That's not true, just because the stuff comes out on a month to year basis, doesn't mean you have to purchase them. I upgrade mine every 2 to 4 years. And sometimes just build all new ones, based off choice not because I have too.

I enjoy building PC's, so I do it as a hobby!

That card alone is still over $200. For Crysis 2, a game which looks close and plays the same on a console, I'd rather play on a console.
I am thinking about going back to PC gaming for Battlefield 3 though.

Immediately you’ll notice not only a downturn in colour (almost 32.3% by our benchmark), but also a significant reduction in flora. It’s quite clear that the development of CryEngine 3 for the consoles has led to a devastating effect on the in-game environments, lowered ambient conditions for both AI and NPCs (inevitably as a result of the 360′s eDRAM chip), and a raise in carbon production by over 300%. With Crysis having supported DX12, and Crysis 2 not even shipping with DX11 support, it’s nothing short of a disgrace.

You PC guys remember playing Crysis with DX 12 right?!

I agree. This game looks fantastic on the PC from screenshots, but is no slouch on the consoles.
