Gears of War 3

So seems to be always just one or two guys who completely dominate the game. One guy tonight in a game just owned it with the sawed off.

When the beta first went live I had a great game, 14 kills with sawed off(I remember that) 3 or so with torque bow, 4 or so with digger launcher, a couple of grenade trap kills and a couple of mortar kills and downs with lancer. It was on arena.

I went like 22-27 kills with like 10-15 deaths. I couldn't believe it, I sucked at gears and in gears 3 once I played for a bit I was usually high on my team. However now, ouch. I have a -k/d and I get owned by sawed off 90% of the time. I hate when people get beter, :P.

Hulkamania4life is the gamertag I'm using for the beta. I don't play with a mic because I have music on when I play. If not an issue send a friend request and lets play some gears.

I haven't played a ton of Gears online, but have shotguns always been the main weapon people use?

Yup. It's been that way since Gears 1.

That has been the case, but I find I myself using more of 50/50 split between the Lancer/Hammerburster and a Shotgun. The Gnasher has some decent range, but find it pretty easy to down somebody with the Lancer if they try and use the Gnasher from too far away. Same thing with the sawed -off since it is worthless from anything but really close range, and has to reload after every shot.

This game is only good when the dedicated servers are up, which has been infrequently during the beta.

Otherwise, it's the same laggy mess that Gears 1 and 2 were.

I can. Mainly do to the "Been there, done that" feeling most probably have. Not saying that's the case but just an opinion on what it might be.

Compared to the first two, it is a pretty big departure. It's much faster, and the two new starting weapons, the sawed-off shotgun and the retro lancer, really change the game. Gears 1 and 2 were basically gnasher fests for better or worse. All you need to do is play some of the Gears 3 beta, then play some Gears 2 multiplayer and you'll see how big of a difference there is. Gears 2, as much as I like it, feels very plodding and slow.

I may pick it up to play SP but I have zero interest in multiplayer except for co-op

Agreed, but at its core, it is definitely still Gears, and I don't think it is going to sway many people that strongly dislike the multiplayer of Gears 1 and 2.

Personally I love the beta, been playing it a ton. Loved Gears 1 MP, only played Gears 2 MP for a couple of weeks as I didn't really care for it. The beta is much better to me than the MP in Gears 2.

Absolutely love the beta. That saw off shotty is the truth. But they sort of balanced it with the very long reload time.
