    Re: The Pokemon Thread

I've been playing Black lately. Loving every second of it. I like how they don't even mix in old Pokemon, it's like a reboot of sorts.

Conversely, I also have HeartGold, and damn is that game a trip down nostalgia lane. Freaking fun as heck.

And I have a GBA copy of FireRed, too, but I haven't started that game yet.

I bought an Advance SP and Fire Red, several months ago. I don't play it often, but when I do, I can't put it down.

I played Pokemon Blue and Pokemon: The Card Game: The Video Game. Fun fact, those two games are the only two Nintendo games I've ever purchased.

I also played the hell out of the card game. Last year year I did an inventory on how many total cards I managed to rack up (I haven't bought a pack in about ten years, mind you)... over 2000 cards. :X

I think I stopped with the games that had that blue water thing as the legendary pokemon or the Red Lizard thing(I know great descriptions). I played Yellow as a kid atleast 10 times.

I want to get a gameboy of some sort just to play pokemon now lol

I have Diamond (I think, maybe Pearl or Platinum, or whatever it is). Never played it much. I loved Blue/Silver back in the day. Maybe I'll start playing on the DS again.

Fun fact that I think maybe five people on the entire message board know: "Psyblast" is a combination of "Psychic," my favorite type from the original Pokemon games, and "Fire Blast," my favorite attack because Magmar made it look like the scariest thing in the world in the cartoon.

Every once in a while I fire up the.....Game Boy.....to play some. This franchise essentially dominated my life from the middle of elementary school all the way through maybe the middle of high school. Just complete obsession. To the point where while my parents initially refused to get me a Game Boy as a kid, I essentially memorized the strategy guide and would jump in and borrow a friend's whenever they'd let me.

                    Ahhh, good times.

EDIT: Oh, and I was an assassin at the card game. I used to go to official "Pokemon League" tournaments at Wizards of the Coast at my local mall on Saturdays and would just routinely demolish everyone in attendance with the deck I put together. It's probably still intact upstairs tucked away somewhere.

I liked collecting the cards, I still have a big book of the old cards somewhere in my parents place. However, I never really played it much I don't know why.

Nostalgia usually gets the best of me and I end up picking up Fire Red for a few days, but I recently considered buying a new handheld, just so I could play one of the newer games. I'm sure an emulator could do the same thing, but it's just not as fun if it's not a handheld.

I support that statement. If you can find a DS Lite, it's the perfect system to have. Allows you to play FireRed/LeafGreen, Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, HeartGold/SoulSilver, and Black/White, so you can play every version of the game so far (Red/Blue and Gold/Silver in updated and improved versions).

Still kinda pricey, though. I think GameStop sells them for 79.99. I paid that when I bought mine, but I'm also insane.

I would be way out of the loop, with any new Pokemon game.

I know all of them, up to Gold/Silver. After that, I don't know anything about them..

Glad we're not here to judge. Only douchebags think Pokemon was for losers... I don't remember any kids who didn't play it.
