      Fire Red.

I'm in Vermillion City and I haven't even entered the gym. I cleared the S.S. Anne to get cut, so I can even get to the gym. I know I'm at a disadvantage, because of my lineup. The gym should be electric type heavy, so I'm trying to make sure my lineup is strong. I'm just afraid to assign Cut to Beedril. I know I won't be using him much longer.

You could run into Diglett Cave and catch one of those quick. I think they're ground type, electric attacks would have no effect on them if I'm remembering right.

I'm not sure why I never thought of that.

You're spot on though, Electric shouldn't have an effect on ground type.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a DS, next Friday. What significant improvements have they made to the newer Pokemon games ?

Depends on how in depth you go. The breeding system is fantastic, as are hunting shinies. Plus updated graphics never hurt.

Crystal, behind Emerald is easily my favorite pokemon game. The night feature was ahead of it's time, and an amazing feature, even if it gets annoying at times.

I've completed the actual storyline of the game, so now I'm just kind of messing around. Right now I'm using Meganium, Xatu, Lanturn, Arcanine, Golem, and Machamp. I might throw a Dragonite or Tyranitar in there, or replace Arcanine with Houndoom or even Magcargo (who has lame stats, but I've never used one before).

                    Re: The Pokemon Thread

I got one of the latest versions "Black" for the DS as a gift during the holidays, but I rarely have time to play it.

I think I just beat the 4th gym on it, definitely prefer the older versions though. With these new games, there are just so many strange, and odd Pokemon that it seems like they just threw in for the sake of adding more. The originals from Red, Blue, Yellow even Gold and Silver had a lot of originality to them.

Do you go through the elite 4 and beat Ash to train them?

Don't like Meganium, but like the last 5. Tyranitar is one of my favorite pokemon's, it is awesome.
Those were my favorite games though because of the 16 gym leaders.

Maximum replay value. That and the Bug Contest in Goldenrod. The only place to get a Scyther I think (Both Scyther and Scizor are awesome).

I like how Scyther looks, but I never had much use for him when I did have one.

                          Same goes for Beedrill.

Depends on which game too imo.
I never use any starting bug pokemon for long, because while they are strong early, they tend to get crushed later on.
Scyther is fun to use but had pretty low defense and doesn't have too many good attacks, especially in crystal.

Yeah, Scyther and Beedrill are the rare type where they look badass, but they're pretty useless in the game.

In the card game, on the other hand, Scyther was a beast. Scyther/Hitmonchan/Electabuzz/Wigglytuff/Sneasel. Domination.
