    Re: The Pokemon Thread

Does anyone have a shiny charmander to trade me. Prefer UT. I'm getting very irritated breeding for one. I stopped playing at that point because of it and really want to keep going. Lol. Pleeeeeeeaaaaaassssseeeee.

    For X and Y btw.

      Re: The Pokemon Thread

Not sure if anyone still plays but......

Need help adding a 6th team member. I have no clue on what to add.

I got right now in my party:

      Lvl 31 Lucario
      Lvl 8 Staryu
      Lvl 5 Noibat
      Lvl 30 Quilladin
      Lvl 13 Charmander

Before theres a comment about the levels of my pokemon, I switched a lot of them up. I was breeding for a shiny Charmander but after 2000+ and not getting one I quit the game for a while. I just recently got back and to pick up where I left off.

Not rerally sure what to use in the 6th slot. Was going to use Ghastly but really dont like Gengar and didnt want to full with trading. Had Mareep for a bit but I was starting to get nightmares about his speed when evolved (Previous generation tried to use him). Was thinking Aron or Axew but not sure. I also got a couple others like Rotom, Honedge, Mawile, Eevee, Dratini, etc just to name a few.

The original ones I was using were:

Lvl 31 Pidgeotto (Wanted something new as I always use him) (Switched out for Noibat)
Lvl 28 Psyduck (Tried him and wasnt impressed) (Switched for Staryu)
Lvl 32 Charmleon (Switched for the shiny Charmander I got from friend in trade)
Lvl 28 Pikachu (Like him but always use him so ehh)

What areas am I missing right now coverage wise? Any suggestions would be appreciated. bI am just looking for something new. Changes to my party already would be thought about as well.

            Let's see...you currently have:

Fire, Water, Grass, Rock, Ground, Steel, Fighting, Ice, Dragon, Dark, Bug, and Fairy (depending on if Lucario has a Steel type move) covered in your team. Which leaves Electric, Poison, Flying, Psychic, and Ghost to get covered.

So a Dark or Ghost Pokemon could cover the Psychic/Ghost weakness, teaching a Pokemon Earthquake/other strong ground move could cover the Electric and Poison types, and Flying you could handle by teaching Thunderbolt to Staryu once it evolves (maybe you can do it beforehand, but I know that Starmie can learn it.)

Personally, I really dislike Lucario. Don't know why, but I do. You could swap that out for a Nidoking and teach him Earth Power via level up, Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave for Fairies, Ice Beam for Dragons/Flying, and Fire Blast for better coverage. Then that leaves you still trying to cover Psychic and Ghost (because Quilladin can learn fighting moves once evolved and can cover the Dark that Lucario is doing now once that happens) and you could go a hundred ways with that. Some of my favorite/some popular Ghosts/Dark pokemon:

            Houndoom
            Bisharp
            Honedge
            Jellicent
            Chandelure
            Umbreon
            Honchkrow
            Scrafty
            Tyranitar
            Malamar
            Pangoro
            Krookodile
            Trevenant

And I'm sure I left some out too (that's all off the top of my head lol).

Well I dont know the end game with Lucario, Quilladin (after evolution) and Noibat (After Evolution)

Charmander is going to be mega evolved unfortunately I dont have Dragon Dance so sword dance will have to do for now. He is Modest and will be running (Most Likely) EV's are in Speed/Attack maxed with remaining in def. Not sure about IV's either.
              -Flare Blitz
              -Dragon Claw
              -Sword Dance
              -Earthquake

Starmie (Onced evolved) will be running
              Thundershock
              Surf/Scald/Hydro Pump
              Psychic/Rapid Spin
              Ice Beam

              Hope that helps a little.

Lucario is meh in the end game now. In D/P he was a beast but not anymore. Not saying it's bad now, just not as good as it was before.

His mega form bad? Was wondering since I heard it's banned in tournaments.

I mean, it's clear that he has a focus on end-game...and like was previously stated, it's very meh now in that capacity because, going back to the original question, it's Mega is in fact banned from the OU tier now.

Mega Lucario is good. It is banned from the OU tier on Smogon while regular Lucario is now in UU and is just meh there. I think there's are a few fighting pokemon in that tier that are better than Lucario now (Infernape, Mienshao for starters).

I don't own a 3DS and thus have not played X and Y, but am considering picking up. I've played just about every pokemon game to date and enjoyed every single one.

If I buy a 3DS, it's likely that I won't be playing any other games on it. Would it be worth it to pick it up just for these games? (Including future games)

If you like Pokemon enough, the 3DS is a must have. It was enough for me to get one. I bought the limited edition Pokemon 3DSxl and X the day it came out.

If you're on the fence, I'm sure you could get a used 3DS for a reasonable price. I really liked X/Y, so I'd definitely recommend it.

I thought the same thing about not playing other games on it. I bought the Ocarina of Time remake and have been playing that frequently. I might also pick up the new Smash Bros game when it drops for the 3DS.

2DS's are like 110 bucks right now at Best Buy.

If I were getting one just for Pokemon, and I'm considering it, that's what I'd do. I don't need the 3D effect.

Back home for probably the next year or two so I'll be able to steal my little sister's 3DS, i'll probably be picking up Pokemon X or Y for myself since she won't let me delete her save lol. I can consider it research so when a student mentions some random pokemon I can respond more then just "Yeah Squirtle is awesome"

Definitely will get the Ruby/Sapphire remake in the fall as that was the last game I remember playing before outgrowing it for awhile as a kid.
