Re: Fable III
Everytime I watch the dev diaries I get more and more excited to play the game. I just love the Fable universe.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Fable III
Compiled previously known info with new info:
- Release date is October 26th for 360 and PC.
- Takes place 50 years after Fable II - close to the industrial age.
- Fable III will read your save file of Fable II.
- No more childhood - You start out at the age of 18, as the son or daughter of the Fable II hero.
- The first half of the game, you will make promises and gain support to take over the throne.
- Players must choose what promises they keep when they were gaining support.
- There will be much tougher choices with wider consequences.
- The second half of the game, as king, will feel like a completely "new experience". This will be unveiled at some point in the coming months.
- After you become king, you can decide whether to keep the country moving towards industrialization, or you can go green.
- You can be even more of tyrant king than Logan when you gain the throne. An example given was if some people aren't paying their taxes, you can go slaughter them yourself, or send your army to do it for you.
- For the first time in Fable, there will be another continent other than Albion called Aurora. Aurora is a vast desert of canyons.
- Also for the first time your hero will speak.
- Fable III will have more cinematic cut scenes than previous games.
- Lionhead admits that co-op in Fable II was rubbish. Fable III will have a "true co-op experience" - you can bring your hero, dog, weapons, and stats. You have separate screens and are not tied together, but you do have to stay in the same region.
- You can have various relationships in co-op; marriage and a business partnership which in both cases you combine bank accounts.
- At the start of the game you will choose from four starting weapons that will morph throughout your play through.
- All three weapon types can morph (Melee, Ranged, and Gauntlets)
- Your weapons will morph with you depending how you use it. The strength, shape, size, curves, textures will all change based on how you use weapons.
- Your Fable III gamerscore factors into the weapon morphing too.
- You can trade weapons online.
- There are extreme morphs, such as, Demon and Angel wings that will come out when you hit the expression button.
- No menus to cycle through. The 2D Menu system has been replaced with a series of 3D rooms.
- Pressing start takes you to your Sanctuary.
- Rooms in the Sanctuary include, Armory, Clothing, Treasure, Multiplayer, and the main War room.
- There is a living 3D map in the War room, where you can zoom in and manage your kingdom. All simulation is still going on, so you can zoom in to ground level to see what's happening.
- You can see where quests are and warp to them from the map.
- You can see where your friends are on the map.
- You can even purchase from shops and buy property from the map.
- New features for the map will be added as you progress through the story.
- Things like clothes are displayed on mannequins in your clothing room, so you just walk up to one, hit a button, and you immediately see the clothing on you.
- When buying items at shops, you zoom in on the shelves and purchase the item.
- There are over twenty outfits in the game which have have good and evil variants and 12 dyes. Pieces of outfits can be mixed and matched.
- The touch system will allow you to hold hands, drag people, and throw your child up into the air amongst other things. Inspiration came from ICO.
- Magic is now tied to Gauntlets, you can combine two spells by wearing a separate spell on each hand.
- Combining certain spells will make completely new ones.
- One button combat is returning, and the combat will be more fluid - there's no more delay when switching between melee, ranged, and magic. It's instant.
- Many finishing moves have been added into the combat system.
- You can level up your hero, weapons, gauntlets, and property.
- There will be no HUD.
- There is no longer experience, it is replaced by the number of followers you have.
- If you get knocked out, you will lose followers depending on the time of day and location.
- There are new regions called Brightwall, Bowerstone Industrial, Mist Peak, Mourning-wood, Drift Wood, Misty Valley, Raven Camp, Bowerstone Old-Quarters, Dweller Camp.
- Three Regions will be returning from Fable II; Bowerstone Market, Fairfax Gardens (Bowerstone Castle) and Bower lake (Mill Fields).
- There are at least 17 main regions in Fable III
- There will be three dog breeds, and you can change your dog's breed via the Sanctuary.
- Fable III like Fable II will be released episodically shortly after release with the first hour being completely free to play.

Re: Fable III
Interview: Josh Atkins
However, over the last two games Fable has gotten a reputation for being too easy and too simple. We've always been fairly proud of the accessibility of Fable combat, but for Fable 3 it was important to us to create new combat experiences for players.
Therefore we spent quite a bit of time working to increase the dramatic impact of our combat encounters. We worked harder on staging our fights, our music and our overall combat experience to ensure the encounters all felt different and memorable - and in the end, more action-packed than before.I think in the past we have allowed some aspects of the game to become so easy that they became a bit too mindless, so we have made some balance changes to the game to try and keep you on the edge of your seat. For example we have included more interesting one to one fights as way to increase the drama and push our players a bit further in exploring the combat possibilities. When we started talking about the weapons for Fable 3 it immediately became clear that creating more 'Rusty Long Swords' was going to be boring to us as developers. You can assume if it is boring to us it must be a hideous thing to our players. With that in mind we decided to reinvent how our weapon system works in order to try and get more gameplay out of the experience of using the weapons.
Therefore we invented a system where from the outset every weapon in the game is cool, but the player still needs to unlock their latent power. Initially, all weapons look very standard, but as the hero powers up, the weapons morph to reflect the hero's playing style. Some weapons have predetermined paths and missions the player has to perform to give them amazing new abilities while others morph to reflect exactly what the hero has done in the game.
Any weapon in the game will have the ability to become more powerful based on the hero that uses it. Finding a weapon tuned to the way you play the game is more important than one which has a higher base damage.Much like every other section of the game, the spell casting system has had a complete overhaul. From the moment the player receives their first spell, they are able to cast the maximum spell level, albeit very very slowly. As the hero levels up their spell ability, they will find that progressive spell levels will cast much more quickly, meaning that at maximum spell ability level, the highest level of the spell will almost insta-cast. This means magic for all levels is much less about standing about waiting to charge up to useful levels and is more immediate and fun.
The main addition to the spell system, however, is the new Spellweaving. Once unlocked, this ability allows the player to take any two spell gauntlets they have and wear them at once. This will weave the two spells together into a completely new spell.
For example, if the player choose Vortex on one hand and Fireball on the other then they will cast a Fire Vortex which sucks people off the ground and sets them on fire, especially good against those annoying Hobbes! There are over 20 spell combinations to experiment with in Fable III.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Fable III
Not really important, but Larry Hyrb (Major Nelson) just announced a Fable 3 Limited Edition Wireless Controller. Comes with a downloadable Tattoo pack for your hero.
