Fully agree. It should be a free upgrade, especially with the absurd amount of people who already own the game. It's been out for 8 years, I doubt anyone has waited a potential re-remaster to first purchase it.

Even at $10, I wouldn't be certain to jump at it. I probably went through the story 3 or so times. Even though it's been a couple years since I've last played it, I can still remember 95% of the story. Now if they wanted to do a full scale remaster of GTA IV, I would be interested in that over GTA V

Just release Grand Theft Auto VI! Enough with the remasters!

Definitely. As a big fan of GTA IV I'm disappointed that I can't play it on my PS5. Remasters of GTA IV and RDR1 or maybe even Max Payne 3 would have been welcome instead of GTA V again and again.

Agreed. I'm okay with them taking their time with GTA VI. I want it to be right and a full scale next gen only game.

But as I've been saying, Rockstar has the resources to do remasters of other key titles. They have plenty of studios and finances to do a side title. They are sitting on valuable IPs. RDR1 shouldn't be difficult since they already have recent assets from RDR2.

I don't see a RDR3, so I wouldn't want Rockstar to put all their eggs in the GTA basket. While you don't want to see cash grab remasters, a lot of those IPs have been dormant a decade plus, so it would sell well. A full scale Max Payne 1 remake would do well. I wouldn't even mind a Warriors remake. They have enough resources and IPs to do side projects other than riding the GTA Online money train

Even $10 would have felt like BS, but understandable. But to charge $40 for a remaster of a remaster that most people already own, is a rip off lol.

I hope it flops. I doubt it will. Online is still thriving somehow and I'd imagine half the kids playing it will "need" the best version of the game.

                      Re: Grand Theft Auto V

                      "PlayStation 5
GTA V will be 75% off for its first three months after launch, meaning it will cost you $9.99. After that, the price will jump back up to $39.99. Buying this at launch at $9.99, or sometime after three months for $39.99, will get you both the single-player campaign and GTA Online.
GTA Online on PS5 will be free in its first three months. After that, the standalone version of GTA Online, meaning the version that does not include the single-play story campaign, will cost $19.99.
Over on Xbox Series X/S, things (oddly) get a little pricier.

                      Xbox Series X/S
GTA V will be 50% off for its first three months after launch, meaning it will cost you $19.99. After those three months are up, it will cost $39.99. This version includes the single-player campaign and GTA Online.
Unlike on PlayStation 5, GTA Online on Xbox Series X/S will not be free in the first three months, but it will be on sale for $9.99. After those first three months are up, the standalone version of GTA Online will cost $19.99. "

So officially for the first 3 months, it's $9.99 for PS5 and $19.99 for Series. Even then, I don't think I'll bite on that. I don't play online. So I'm not trying pay for upgraded graphics and performance of a story I didn't really care for compared to the other GTAs

Would need to be a pretty significant offer to get me to pay again for this game, let alone the online component which has the worst UI for setting up and finding games of probably any title since online gaming became a thing.

I was expecting a robust outline of what to expect in GTA:O, and the value proposition for participating, both solo and multiplayer.... and for all players, not just those w/ next gen consoles.

Instead they're just going to order up another run from the money printer it seems.

If I knew every single dime of what they got was devoted to ensuring that GTA VI and RDR 3 were going to be the best they could possibly be, and the re-acquisition of the NFL license in the future was a guarantee, then screw it have them milk this title and upcharge it as much as they'd like.

I don't quite know if that's how it works, though.

I'm not sure if there will be a RDR3 for multiple reasons. Going the prequel route for RDR2, do they go with James Marsden's son as the protagonist for RDR3 or another character based later than RDR1. Then, do they want to commit to another title that might require a longer development cycle than normal. If you do a RDR3 that story is based after RDR1, then you almost would want to do a remaster of RDR1 first if you are going to use Marsden's son. I'd assume all hands are on deck for GTA 6. RDR3 would essentially come out at the end of generation. That would mean Rockstar would go 2 full generations with just 2 remastered versions of GTA V, Trilogy remaster, GTA 6, RDR 2 & 3. Which wouldn't be bad for a normal AAA studio, it's disappointing as a consumer with a publisher with a much resources as Rockstar

I feel like more than anything RDR Online will dictate if we see a RDR3. That's the long tail of revenue in these games (not that there isn't a ton up front) but feel like that's their bread and butter.

Anecdotally (personal preference because I'm not a fan) I have to wonder what the ceiling is for this kind of game, also. Until they have something new to bring (more than another story to tell) I could see them holding off on releasing another western and instead any inclinations would go through RDR Online as revenue warrants it.

I'd assume that the focus has been more on GTA Online past couple years and will be primarily focus compared to RDR Online going forward. I'm not aware of much they have added to it past year plus, but that's a type of game where I'd imagine there's a ceiling to much new content you can add.
