But only carry stuff that is worth the weight. I know when I was maxed out on weight I started dividing the weight by the amount of gold to determine what to keep.

I also like to make sure I have the The Steed Stone active in order to carry more loot.
The Standing Stones are magical stones found in the wilderness which can give your character special abilities and powers. There are thirteen Standing Stones in total, each associated with one of Tamriel's thirteen constellations. Usually, only one stone's effects can be active at a time, although you can change which stone is active at any time by activating a different Standing Stone. However, by wearing the Aetherial CrownDG, you may be affected by two Standing Stones concurrently.

I would do this (basically it had to be worth 2-5 times it's weight in gold for me to take it) and also pump up my stamina first before worrying about the magic/health so I could carry a lot more early on.

There are so many mods to choose from in the Steam Workshop. Which ones are must have?

There are definitely a few must haves, the rest is preference.

Head here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/, click the file drop down, then top files. You'll see what's most popular.

Then as you browse/play you'll think of other things you want. Make sure you Google "skyrim script extender". Read up on it and understand it.

Also I can't speak for steam workshop, I do everything through Nexus Mod Manager.

My first (and so far only character) was a dual-wielding orc in Heavy Armor. Just pretty much ran in, hit stuff til it died and used a little Resto. For my next build, I'm probably going to go with an Assassin type. Which would be the better way to go? Dark Elf or Wood Elf?

Depends. Wood Elf if you want to be a distant assassin. Wood Elf's archery is awesome.

That's the character I have. The dark brotherhood missions were a breeze. I didn't get spotted once on any of them. My two weapons of choice are my enchanted ebony bow and some dagger I got from some one that has 20% chance to kill immediately. That's it. Either way up close or from a distance. I don't go toe to toe. I leave that for my NPC person.

I took an elder dragon down that was camping out on one those dragon shrine things in two arrow shots. (Sneak attack).

Yeah, I did a Dark Elf for a second and mostly ended up using a combo of one handed and destruction. I feel like that's a beastly battle mage class, but that's not really what I'm shooting for. My wood elf, however, has been much more satisfying so far. Sneak attacking draugrs before they wake up is awesome.

My first character was a sneaker, dark elf type. I thought it made the game way to easy once you hit the lower 20s. My second character was a Mage, but magic seemed underpowered. Dual-wielding seems to be the way to go.

I'm level 4 and already one hit killing stuff. But it's fun so far.
