It was going to be, but it's coming to consoles too.

I think I remember reading Sony convinced them to do it at some point.

There was a lot of pressure to make it F2P as well but Bethesda said they couldn't design the game they wanted if they had to do it that way.

I think I'm going to wind up struggling with the temptation to pickup ESO, but part of me also wants to hold out to see if it does eventually go F2P, just like DCUO and SW:TOR (both of which started out with a fee, then eventually went F2P).

I don't know. I'm just such a fan of the series that I think I'm going to have a hard time not picking it up right away. But yeah, the monthly fee is definitely what would keep me from doing so.

As far as Skyrim - it's definitely one of those that I keep meaning to work my way back to again. It's just that - I have SO MANY games in my backlog that I also want to get to (currently working my way through XCOM: Enemy Unknown), due to PS+ free games and then my unfortunate inability to pass on a good deal for a game. And I know that once I do boot Skyrim back up, I'm not coming back to those other games anytime soon.

First character was / is a ranger-type. Focused on archery, with other abilities peppered in to help with leveling up. I think I left him off at level 53. Still go back to him every now and then - I've just always loved the archery characters in these games.

Second character was / is a destruction mage. I really enjoy this class quite a bit as well. It's fun managing magicka usage between different spells, switching spells during battle as necessary, having a character that is in just robes instead of armor, relying on armor spells for protection... just a lot of fun. I think he's around level 45 or so.

Third character is a pure heavy armor / two-handed orc. I've never used the orc race before, and thought it'd be fun to just have a heavy-handed one who prefers warhammers. I think I'm only around level 20 with him, but it's been pretty enjoyable for a change of pace. I do worry that this style might get a little stale quicker than the archery or destruction mage, but maybe I'll be proven wrong as I continue to level up.

Just a great game. It's slightly embarrassing to think about how many hours I've put into Oblivion first, and now Skyrim.

Let me tell you about Moses who is my High Elf Destruction Mage. Not only is he a master for Destruction but he also can use a bow when needed. I am a really strong Alchemist and have made tons of great potions and poisens. Which are great on my arrows and swords and daggers which are used when needed. I also have a fully decked out enchanted glass armor set to use when dungeon crawling with tough monsters/dragur/etc. When I do where my master destruction robe and my mask.....death. I also am almost a master of Restoration and use illusion too. So I am a master of a couple of things....but am pretty good at light armor, one handed when needed and enchanting as well as a serious alchemist (which helps the bank roll big time).

I have homes in every major corner of Skyrim, more loot than I know what to do with....and a wife.

I am the same way with Skyrim.....I popped it in for a break from M25, The Show and 2K14....and now I am obessing about going adventuring again this weekend. It is Skycrack. No doubt. Love this game.

I will build another character once I complete everything I want with my first one. I am just having a hard time deciding if I want to be a badass tank Orc or a sneaky little thief with a bow and dagger. Mmmmmmm.

Very nice. Yeah I did the alchemy / poison route with my archer. Got to the point where pretty much every arrow he fired was covered in some sort of poison.

With my mage (if I remember correctly - it's been months now), I'm going a little bit in the same route, in as much as I'm focusing mostly on destruction, but I'm also working on Illusion and Alteration. I pretty much always have a Flame Atronoch summoned as an assist, and then I improved the skill tree to where I can also raise a dead enemy and have them help me out at the same time. (I can't remember the name of the perk - Dual Summoning? Dual Souls? Something like that).

I imagine once the level gets high enough where I'm not really leveling up using my spell skills with him anymore, I'll probably follow a similar path to what you describe, put some armor on him and use that some in certain occasions. It's the first "pure" mage I've ever tried, so I'm trying to go as long as I can with just robes / armor spells. I'm also really looking forward at some point to using primarily bound bow / swords as well. The idea of being a pure mage, conjuring a bow out of nowhere and taking enemies out sounds mighty tempting.

My friend has it, probably put in around 50 hours and he hasn't had anything major happen. Some weird graphic glitches every now and then.

Big issue on PS3 is the game killing lag once your save file gets over the 8MB range or there about. Also as far as I know Bethesda did not deal with the issue in the Legendary edition.

This is how I've dealt with this issue after doing some research and it works too (my original character file is now 14MB.)
                  1. DO NOT overwrite your save files. Make a seperate save every time you save.
                  2. Disable Auto-Save. Auto save negatively affects the performance of a lot of console games, Skyrim included.
                  3. When your game starts to lag and clip to where it's unplayable save your game and quit, not to the title screen, but quit the entire game. Delete any old saves and restart. As a rule you should always delete prior saves before you start your game up.
                  4. Keep no more than 10 Skyrim save files (I keep between 5-10 between 2 characters).
                  5. Apparently being a packrat affects file growth. Limit the amount of stuff you store in chests and barrells. Sell that crap off.
                  6. Uninstalling the main game and the DLC and then reinstalling might help also, but it didn't help me.
The thing that helps the most on this list is disabling auto save and not overwriting save files. When your game lags really bad just save and stop playing. Delete old files and start over again and the game will play smoothly again. Unflortunately the lag is gonna come once the save file grows to a certain size. There is no escaping it on PS3, but Skyrim on the PS3 is still a great experience.

I have kept one save file on my actual PS3 hard drive and transferred older ones to my flash drive if I ever needed them.

I have had no issues with lag just over writing my current save file. I may do a fresh extra file as well before a big quest just in case. So I never have more than 2 save files at a time on my actual hard drive.

                      Also I disabled auto save.

Due to a recent turn of events, I think that my next course of action is going to be to re-install Skyrim and stuff then grab some sweet mods and turn that into a streaming thing for a while (when not streaming BF for a group.) There should be plenty of sweet mods going on in my game.

                        Sounds good? Sounds good.

I'm on PS3 and my save file is now 15MB. The rimlag is almost unbearable at this point. All of the tricks I've used to help it only work for about 20-30 minutes before the framerate crashes and I find myself saving and restarting my game all the time. I read somewhere that replacing the HDD with an SDD will help a lot. Anybody have any advice?

Yep. Latest updated installed. My save file is realy big though. Over 400 hrs logged since it's the only game I have played consistently for most of this year.
