    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Been looking at a lot of videos on mods lately for skyrim and it is insane how talented the community for it is.

I seen that there is two big mods coming out. One is Skywind, which is basically Morrowind with the skyrim engine and new features. I heard it is also gonna be compatible with mods so you could change the leveling system or keep the mods you already have. The second is Skyblivion, and it the same as Skywind but with Oblivion. The people working on it so far are focusing a lot on Skywind than Skyblivion, and have a lot more people on it too. You could search them up on YouTube to see videos of it. It quite impressive.

Here is the website to look at what they did so far.

From what I understand Skywind will go public for its alpha release soon. I'm more excited for that and Skyblivion than most upcoming games honestly.

The wait for Skyblivion is gonna be a long one. Well it should not be long once Skywind is done and some or most of the people from them help on this project.

I'm excited for both of them though.

I haven't even come close to playing through Skyrim at all and hearing that these two mods are coming out makes it sound like I have about ~200 hours of gameplay left in this one. Makes the purchase that much more worth while.

Has anything been done to the animations or combat? Even though Skyrim was "better" than oblivion, it still left a lot to be desired.

I may have to pick up a stout PC again once these two large mods release. I've never played MOrrowind, so it'll be a nice introduction to me, and be in a familiar environment.

I will definitely be checking out Skywind, Morrowind is still my favorite Elder Scrolls games, and by far has the most play time of the series.

There's only so much that can done with the engine.

For action RPGs with decent combat, check out the Souls games and Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen.

They are mostly gonna use the engine that Skyrim had. I'm pretty sure your gonna need to purchase Oblivion and all it DLC, the same for Morrowind.

I have Oblivion and Morrowind, as well as Skyrim on Steam/disc. I've just never started Morrowind.

I hope the next one has some good combat. Thanks for the recommendations bakan. I'll check them out.

So curious about playing as a Wood Elf Archer/Thief/Assassin type in Skyrim. I am still on my first character build which is a High Elf Destruction Mage with good one handed weapon skills, good light armor, great alchemy and enchanting. I love this character and I am probably still a good 25-30 hours away from finishing the main game and I have still yet to delve into the DLC which will probably add another 25-30 hours for me easy.

But I am itching to begin a brand new character and want to go in a totally different direction. I find being a warrior boring. I think going the Wood Elf route can be a very nice change of pace and quite the challenge initially (until I level up my archery and sneak).

Also I never triggered the Civil War quest line. Is it cool? And which side have you taken (one or both in different playthroughs) pros and cons of triggering the quest line.

Thoughts on this type of build as well as the Civil War quest?

                      PS3 player BTW.

I found the civil war quest-line to be really generic and boring, but that could be a subjective thing.

Skywind is going to be fantastic, I hope they can get that done quick.

The missions are the same no matter which side of the Civil War you choose, it just changes the people involved in them.

I ran a search for vanilla but couldn't find anything but for my first time play through on PC, I don't know which way to go.

                            - vanilla
                            - vanilla with just texture mods
                            - fully modded

I'd like to think I'll play through more than once but I might not have the time and have a huge backlog of other games so not sure which way to go. I have a powerful enough PC to play fully modded on ultra.

                            Any tips?

Fully mod like frostfall and other game play altering mods? I've watched them on youtube and they do look very good but do completely alter the game play.

Was also using gophers videos on youtube and he just mentions the official HD texture pack, Skyrim HD 2k textures and climate/lighting overhauls. Nothing about ENB's. Should I look at ENB's also?
