Sony changed course just weeks ahead of Skyrim’s release, but at a cost: The PS4 version’s space for mods is limited to just 1 GB, while the Xbox One has 5 GB reserved for add-ons. Xbox players can also tap into a variety of assets (like scripts, textures and sound files) while PS4 users can’t upload any external assets at all.

as far as the nature of the limitations to the PS4 mods

“Mods that add new types, or drastically alter existing gameplay? No deal,” wrote user Thallassa in a guide to modding Skyrim Special Edition. “Those require scripts. Quest mods? No go, those require scripts (except for the absolutely simplest of mods, like "go fetch this sword." Anything cool requires scripts for various stages). New characters? No go. ... No new weapons or armor. No retextures or graphics mods.”

The mods currently available on PS4 are simpler in nature. A popular one adds dynamic shadows to certain spells, while the more ambitious Phenderix Magic Evolved adds hundreds of unique spells to the game. Xbox One users, on the other hand, get to add things like “immersive indigestion” and music from Toejam and Earl to their games.

I thought I read somewhere that there was still hope for the PS4 version to match the One's modability but I can't find that quote
First EA Access now modding. Sony are a bunch of idiots with this stuff.

Guess ill get it for xbox one if I pick it up.

It's crap like that why I own both consoles. Can always get the game on the system that's more friendly to whatever it is you want to accomplish. In this case better looking game and mod storage amount.

But still, I find myself being more dissatisfied with Sony than MS when it comes to these things recently.

In case it's not been mentioned I HIGHLY recommend Vived Weathers mod. Using the "SPell Book" to alter weather, lighting, etc....man, it's as good as making the game new. Fallout had similar mod and I loved it.

Picked up the Special Edition on PC, and with some help from Flawless, I loaded up a bunch of mods. Fired it up tonight and it defaulted everything to Ultra, and my word, it's like a new game.

Went with the alternate life mod and started as an Imperial soldier. Gonna roll with dual wield, as the perk tree for one handed with the ordinator mod looks crazy fun.

Can't wait to really dive back into Skyrim.

Lol same here. My gaming laptop will play it fine...

The main thing this does is get me even more fired up to get new rig built this coming year.....

Was planning on the Scorpio but my PS4 is enough as far as console needs (Plus they have the exclusives I like best)... so I'm focusing on a new PC build including VR

I'd say I'd have my near fully modded game up and running soon but there is a guy on skyrim nexus that has his mods hidden until election day.

Needless to say, I'm a bit miffed. I wanted to start streaming it soon, and I can't seem to find a download link.

I see no reason to get up in arms about mods. It's rarely an option on console anyways and it seems like people always line it up as a pro to being a PC gamer over a console gamer.

If the console is the only way you have to play it then sure I guess, but It seems most people who are overly concerned about the ability to add these game enhancing mods for ANY game are PC gamers or have a PC/Laptop capable of doing so.

No big deal in my eyes.. maybe I'm too casual. I would find it strange if the ability to mod a REMASTERED Skyrim on consoles changed whether someone bought a PS4 or XB1 with all of the great modern titles available. I don't think it's anywhere near as impactful as something like EA access.

I dont find it as important as EA access being excluded however I dont get your take on skyrim. People are buying Skyrim remastered to play it, not the other great modern titles. The ability too mod is advertised as a selling point and a huge discussion about the game. Same thing with Fallout 4, difference being is Fallout didnt have the ability too mod at launch while Skyrim does.

Its a bigger deal when you factor in Xbox One has 6 times more memory to mod with much deeper modding abilities to choose from. For those who dont have both consoles, only ps4, its an even bigger slap to the face imo.

I own PC, Xbox One and PS4 and while I believe my PC could handle Skyrim Remastered (Ran original on ultra with highly realistic overhaul mods) I prefer the easy access and less trial and error/problems with console than PC so the modding differences betweem both consoles is a huge selling point too me as it is to most people that own multiple consoles.

                          Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Well I know MODS are important to some but I'm in the camp of not really that important on consoles (If I did I would have gotten Skyrim on XBOX 1).
I got 2 so far but haven't used yet due to not being able to get trophies with mods enabled.
I certainly don't take it that seriously to think it's a slap in the face.

Now IF I bought the consoles due to a huge selling point of MODS then this happened them maybe I'd be more irritated but as is... I don't really care.

Now on PC I used a ton of mods... and hope to get a lot more into PC in 2017

With that said... Those with just a PS4 and have a huge importance of MODS then I hope that Sony bends a bit...

Knowing mods disable trophies instantly erases any desire I would have had to use them.

I'm honestly just not convinced they're swaying the decision of the general public on whether or not to buy the game. I think those that REALLY care already game on the most mod-friendly platform of them all... PC.

I can agree about it being a selling point for the game itself. I guess I just got drug into the conversation when I saw Jared mention it along with EA Access being an exlusive.

I think the majority of people own multiple consoles for console exlusive games, friends, and maybe the One being 4K UHD disk capable. I don't think the majority own two consoles just based on modding capabilities. It's not that relevent right now

If someone wants to pick one console over the other because they can mod a game that intially released in 2011.. that's their choice, but it's not the norm. There are way too many other factors.

Either way, to keep from beating a dead horse I'll just say I don't mean to hijack the thread.. just thought it was an interesting point to discuss. I'll let you guys get back to enjoying your purchase.
