    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I haven't played this yet but will definitely play at some point in the near future on PS4.

My concern with using mods is I feel I won't play the game. Instead I'll just use my play time to search for a better visual experience and try new mods.

I think mods are great but I much prefer what's been given to me. I've been down that sliders path in the past and it ruins the experience in the long run for me.

If there's a all in one mod that takes the best of things and throws them in, I'd be down for that. Though I'm sure there would be disagreements with which mods are chosen to be part of that package.

You completely misunderstand the concept and use of mods in this game. Most of the mods fix and balance issues that are still in the vanilla game. That said is a must to have the unofficial patch, alternate start, combat tweaks, perk tweaks and AI balancing. Then you can start putting the visual mods.

Yeah, Mods go way beyond just improving graphics. Skyrim feels completely new to me using Mods.

I really don't know mate because I'm on a PC. But I think I've seen a post here having links to some "gameplay" mods on PS4. The major issue with vanilla game (apart from some broken quests that unofficial patch fixes) is that it is way too easy when you reach a level around 25. There are mods that have the AI even flanking you and make the combat aspect of the game very interesting.
I'm sure here on OS someone with a PS4 will guide you.

No to the unofficial patch and alternate start. Both use scripts and other external assets that aren't allowed on PS4. I think there's some individual mods for the others, but I've never used them before.

I've been posting recommendations for mainly console players, because it goes without saying these are also on PC and much more.

It's a shame about the limitations because some of the mods I feel that make Skyrim an objectively better game aren't allowed. Some mod authors have expressed a desire to try figure out how to bring limited versions of their mods to PS4.

What mod? WICO? Race and NPC appearance overhauls are unlikely.

I apologize for not being clear. I meant the appearance mod. Again, thanks for the info.

Out of curiosity... Is anyone aware of a mod that voices the user character?

I never did the Dawnstar expansion and was wondering if you guys recommend getting the mod that stops vampires from killing NPC's, I remember there being some backlash about how bad it could get.

Not sure if console has the mod, but I snagged one on PC that sends NPC characters inside their houses when the vampires attack. I believe it leaves town guards outside to assist.

Here's the PC mod for vampire attacks.

                            http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspeci...on/mods/2275/?

There's also one for dragon attacks from the same mod author.

Both Xbox One and PS4 have a mod that stops vampire attacks in just towns.

I walked into Riften and all the shopkeeps in town square were dead. I quit out and downloaded a no vampire attacks mod instantly. I'm at work so I don't know what it's called but there definitely is one on Xbox.

Still have a lot of tweaking to do, but here's where I stand at currently (being stable and all for now.)

                                Meet Sonya.

                                Spoiler

She's not the fondest of magic. Somehow she woke up in this cell.

                                Spoiler

Did I mention she's not fond of magic? Well, she went to sleep and magically woke up where she remembers being last. The Bannered Mare in Whiterun.

                                Spoiler

Right now, Sonya can be found wandering around Whiterun trying to find any work for a peasant as she frantically tries to remember how and why she was in that cell.

I am but a humble adventurer.

                                Spoiler

On a side note, I can't wait until the remaster gets a lot of mod support but it's got much, much time before it catches up - if ever.
