The Dark Brotherhood is freaking awesome, man.

The intro mission, after you wake up... amazing.

I'm not going to cheat, I just found that interesting in a "how the hell do they allow that?" way.

So much for taking a day or two off. I'm already getting the itch again, haha. I guess two days off in a row is bit much to handle because something about Sunday nights makes me think I'm getting burnt out.

So, either start a new character tonight or do some Guild jobs.

In my travels on the way to give someone an amulet I run into a group of Orc hunters. I get off the horse and go give the amulet to the person. While this is happening the Orc hunters kill an animal and my horse goes into berserker mode and goes after them. Kills one while the second one ended up attacking me. Shadowmere, the defender of all animals.

Now on Steam: Beta Update for Skyrim

Skyrim is using Steam’s beta functionality to give users an early look at the 1.4 Update currently in development.

What does beta mean? This patch is still in development. Apply the update at your own risk and only if you are affected by issues listed in the fix notes.

Be sure to back up your saved games or simply be careful not to overwrite your existing saves. If you decide to opt out of the beta program, your old saves will still work with the current release of Skyrim (v 1.3).

Just check the misc section of general store clerks and wizard merchants (like the jarls' wizards). Blackreach has a lot of gemstone veins that yield a lot too. I've gotten a lot of black and grand soul gems from those. The mechanical enemies in dwemer ruins hold a lot of soul gems as well.

Fast traveling between Markarth and Riften takes a day + 1 hour. Start in one location and buy out the general store, travel to the other city and clean those vendors out too. Travel back to the first one and the store should be restocked since a couple in game days have passed. Check the travel times between the mages college and another town since the college has 3-4 people that sell gems.

There's also Azura's Star or Black Star, visit Azura's shrine for more details...

I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of the combat in this game. Since that's the bulk of what you do in any RPG, I'd like to know whether you think it's, for lack of a better term, "fun".

I ask this because while I think Fallout 3 was a really good game, the combat in my opinion is not particularly fun, which is a huge issue since that's 90% of what you do in the game. The whole thing felt like an awkward chore, and I surmise it's because they tried to mash-up action and under-the-hood-RPG-math, and it ended up being forced and not fluid at all. Especially the melee weapons, which I guess would be a big part of an RPG like Skyrim. Since the engine is essentially the same, I'd be interested to know what you all think...
