Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I created a new character last night and played long enough to get to Riverwood. I created a female High Elf and am going strictly magic for her. So far, she's badass. She basically killed everybody in her path by lighting them on fire and watching them dance around like fairies.
I think she'll be a lot of fun so I'll let Caellian rest for a couple of days.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of the combat in this game. Since that's the bulk of what you do in any RPG, I'd like to know whether you think it's, for lack of a better term, "fun".
I ask this because while I think Fallout 3 was a really good game, the combat in my opinion is not particularly fun, which is a huge issue since that's 90% of what you do in the game. The whole thing felt like an awkward chore, and I surmise it's because they tried to mash-up action and under-the-hood-RPG-math, and it ended up being forced and not fluid at all. Especially the melee weapons, which I guess would be a big part of an RPG like Skyrim. Since the engine is essentially the same, I'd be interested to know what you all think...Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The thing I love about Elder Scrolls games is you find things you've missed in past playthroughs. Was walking to Bloated Man's Groto near Falkearth for a cool sword, and came across a farmer and a cow(random encounter). The cow had the "Giant markings" on it, and the farmer said he was talking it as a peace offering to the local Giant camp.
That and apparently foxes lead you to places you haven't discovered in the wild.Comment

Agreed, it could use a targeting system of some sort. The only problem I have with the melee his hitting your follower when in close quarters. The other day I was pretty far into a cave and I killed my follower and had to go back to previous save that wasnt really close to where I was.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's crazy to see how much some of you have accomplished and I feel like I've been playing forever and haven't done anything. I'm also thinking about creating a second character who would be "darker" than my Nord Leonidas who is a good law abiding man. Sometimes when someone gives me attitude I just want to drop them where they stand and with my second character that's exactly what I'll do.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

If someone wants a game that is 90% combat they should look into Dark Souls, it's more like 99% combat.

My stealth archer is my favorite type of character to play with. Once you unlock the slow time while aiming perk it makes the stealth kills just so much sweeter! I just love hitting an enemy while hidden and watch him look around for me while I line up my 2nd shot for the kill.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I was wandering around after I started the Azura shrine quest and found this place called "Sightless Pit." Naturally I jumped into the pit, as my curiosity always gets the best of me.
I was surprised at what I found as I went further into the place and got some nice loot. I won't spoil what you find down there, but it's not what you expect to find when you go in.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Personally in Fallout or Skyrim I think 90% of what you do is exploration/questing, not combat. With skyrim, they added the glorified kill moves and you can block with shields and weapons but combat is no where near the center piece of this game. They could have done things like limb damage or make critical vulnerable areas depending on the armor being worn.
If someone wants a game that is 90% combat they should look into Dark Souls, it's more like 99% combat.
I agree that the game is about exploring, but in terms of the actual action/active part of the game, it boils down to combat (you can't very well progress in the game without fighting stuff). My problem with Bethesda RPG's is that that aspect is not particularly fun, and it really detracts - in my opinion - from otherwise great games. I do like wandering around the wastes in Fallout, but the encounter rate is fairly high and then...it's a chore. If they could just get the combat to something more fun, the game would be pretty much perfect...Comment

Still, combat only lasts a fraction of the massive amount of game-time. If I were comparing it to other games, I would say it fares better than ME1, but not nearly as polished or "clean" as ME2.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Is there any slow motion type animations for archer? There a few for sword in battle and assassinations but was wondering if there are for archer. My second play through I want to do a evil elf as a archer assassin .Comment
