Has anyone noticed the game seems a bit easier post patch (I'm on ps3)? It certainly seems easier than it did before imo but maybe it's just my imagination.....

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Decided to try and finish the main quest and I'm a mission or two from beating it. Figured I would have more trouble going through ruins full of high level Draugur Wrights and Scorges, but high level sneak and archery pretty much decimates everything.
Also ran into my first dragon priest. Either you can't sneak up on them or something was wrong in my game because I couldn't do any backstab damage to him. Had a good 5 minute battle with him taking him out with my bow while dodging his lighting and frost spike attacks.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So I'm level 4 and feel like I'm in way over my head. In the few RPGs I have played I've always been a sword and shield warrior type, so I wanted to do something different with this game. I decided to go the dark elf route, hoping to become good at magic, stealth and theft. Here's some questions:
I'd like to be good at magic, stealth, theft, archery, alchemy and enchanting. Am I spreading myself too thin there? Do I need to focus on just a few of those things? I've heard the game's not nearly as good if you try to make yourself a jack-of-all-trades but master-of-none type in this game so I'm looking to avoid that.
Can you craft mage apparel, such as hoods and robes, or is crafting limited only to armor
How many guilds are in the game? And how do I know which one is the right one to join? (The second question probably doesn't have a correct answer, I'm sure there's pros and cons to each)
In the journal, is there way to distinguish the difference between a main story line quest and a random side quest?Lux y VeritasComment

Unfortunately you cannot craft mage apparel but since clothes and robes don't offer any sort of armor/damage protection there wouldn't really be a point anyway. There's nothing to improve through smithing. (BTW, smithing also works on weapons not just armor)
There are many guilds and you aren't limited to joining just one. You may run into some problems with quest lines for certain guilds or groups since your character may not be built properly to handle the quests they want completed.
In the journal there is no quest "order of importance" really. The only ones you can really consider minor with no main story consequences are the ones under the miscellaneous category. Other then that you'll have to remember which quests seemed to spawn from completing the main story line. Some quests may intersect later on but you won't know that till you know. I don't think you're spreading to thin. The only problem I see is you say "good at magic" but there are many schools of magic. You need to concentrate on just a couple and not all 5. Other then that you should be good.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's really good for certain things like perk descriptions or character building info (especially if you're new to Elder Scrolls) and things like alchemy ingredient charts or smithing recipes and material locations.
It has a walkthrough for each quest (only one and it's not always the easiest/best way) if you need the help. it has a break down of each location so you can know what to expect if you want to go in fully prepared or too see if you missed something important in an area you just explored.
Nothing you can't find online I'm sure, but it can be easy quick reference.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

One perk per level, yes. For some skill trees you may not want to get every perk anyway so keep that mind.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
My main complaint is the organization of it sucks. Some things that you'd expect in the index aren't there, like quests. Or they'll be listed as "Temple Quest: Quest Name" which requires you to know it's a temple quest in the first place. Or ingredients, instead of looking up "Blue Butterfly Wing" in the index you have to find the section on alchemy and then flip the pages till you find the ingredient chart.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Dumb? Depends. Two things when it comes to pure mages and armor; one, armor slows down your movements so if you're try to run from a losing battle.... Second, true magic only characters shouldn't be in hand-to-hand combat anyway so having armor is pointless. That being said, close up, in your face battle mages are definitely viable if done right.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Ugh....I am constantly backtracking for Lydia.
She's worth it though for the most part. She deals some pretty good damage and also gives me some latitude with some long range bow shots. It really helps to bring down dragons.
Plus, she's not bad to look at! Even in an Imperial Steel Helmet!

I just had to resign myself to knowing she was lying dead somewhere. Disheartened I sold what loot I had then went to store the leftovers and add to my skull collection in Breezehome, I was stuffing stuff in a chest when I hear a familiar voice. I jolt upright in my seat and find myself saying, out loud, "Lydia, you're alive!" Then I was just glad nobody was there to see that, but I was truly excited.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Another Skyrim story, I was doing a certain quest for an orphan and, when I went to the orphanage ISpoilerlistened to the crazy lady's tirade and, since it was late, everybody went to bed. I go into her room and, on a whim, decided to look in her pockets to see what she was carrying. A few mundane items and, a book? The pig children? One I hadn't seen yet, so I crack it open.....it was a racist propaganda book about Orcs. My Orc didn't like that much, so I killed her, stripped her and set her on fire. Racist old crone.Comment
