    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

For those who are into their armor, where can I find this piece of badassery?

    Spoiler

FYI, that's a retexture mod of an existing armor in the game.

Question for the theives out there. I want to start stealing but I'm not sure how it works exactly.

          1. If I still something alone in a room can I still be caught? If so does it matter if my theif skills are low.

          2. Can I be caught if I try to sell it in the same town.

          3. If I steal and I don't get caught, will I get bad karma or negetive reations by NPCs?

          4. If a shop keeper has 800 gold can I steal 800 gold or is the amount you can steal much less?

Thanks. I know these questions might seem really basic but I've never stolen anything on purpose in Oblivion or Skyrim (embarrassing).

I should clarify, I don't want to pay it to the guards, I want to do it the other like you could in oblivion. Does this mean I have to start the thieves guild questline or is there a way to it without that?

No. As long as no one sees you, you're safe.

              No.

              There's no karma system.

Whatever you see on the shop keeper's inventory - including gold - is the amount you can steal.

I haven't tried the patch yet, but I doubt I'd have noticed immediately either.

I also fast travel all the time, I usually don't have tons of gaming time and also want to run through quests. I may have to start hunting for some dragons though, I have a few shouts I want to learn.

                  1. You can take anything you like if nobody is looking. There are no skills that determine if you can steal an item off a shelf. Just take it. When you hover over an item with the cross hairs, look to the bottom left of the screen. You'll get an indication whether you will "Take" or "Steal" the object. Some things can be taken and not considered stolen.

                  2. Stolen items will be marked as Stolen in your inventory. Without a certain perk you can not sell stolen items to just any old merchant. To answer your question though, you could conceivably sell the stolen item right back to the shop keeper you just stole it from without consequence.

                  3. No karma in Skyrim.

                  4. Not sure if the gold shown in the shop window is the same amount you'd be able to pickpocket from them. I've had cases where I've pickpocketed gold from somebody and then killed them. Their corpse had more gold on it. It is also possible to pay somebody to train you, then turn around and pickpocket your gold back from them.

Yeah, good points. I would make sure to save before and after trying some things, so you can learn how to pickpocket better....

I'm not sure about that. I do remember having dialogue options with the guards that were, "I'm in the guild!" and it had a money value next to it like a bribe.

It's much more complicated and not as straight forward as Oblivion. And can't even be done in some holds.

Anybody use the robes later in the game? I use a bow when approaching enemies and then switch to some form of magic once the fight starts. I can't imagine not having the faster magic regen bonus from the robes.

I'm guessing the long-term solution is to learn the enchantments of the robes and put them on light armor? I probably won't be able to walk around without armor for the entire game. My enchantment is awful right now, I can't get anywhere near the bonuses offered by the robes.

Also, depending on your crime, if you are considered a Thane in that city you can use that influence to persuade the guards to drop the charges.

I actually don't think the crime matters, at least the first time. I literally got away with murder one time - at first the guard attacked me immediately but when I yielded he gave the whole "Stop right there" spiel and I had the opportunity to tell him I was a thane. It only worked once, though - I only had the option to pay, go to jail, or die the next time (oh yes, there WAS a next time ).
