    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

    I LOVE THIS GAME.

This is hands down my GOTY. I still haven't put in a lot of time compared to some of you guys, but I'm having a blast just walking around, finding new locations and exploring. Oblivion was a cool, but this ****s on it as far as I'm concerned. It's still kind of overwhelming because it seems like there's so much to do. Not that it's a bad thing.

With most games nowadays I find myself running through campaign or more than likely getting bored with it and tossing the game to the side. With Skyrim I see myself getting my monies worth and then some. Dragon Age Orgins and Mass Effect 1 & 2 were my favorite RPG's that I've played on this generation of consoles. Skyrim has earned itself a well deserved seat at the table.

And to the guys that tried to help me with my glitch problem, thanks a lot. The game wasn't bugged, I was just overlooking a lever that was right in front of my face. So far so good in that department for me.

Definitely my GOTY as well. Loving this game.

Just recently I started the Dark Brotherhood questline. I needed to travel to Markarth, and had not been there yet so I decided to foothike it from Farkreath to Markarth. Not even a leg into my journey and I am ambushed by 3 Dark Elves and a Frost Atronach. After I dispatch of them and send their souls to Talos, I discover on the body of one of the Elves a note that reads:

"Be on the look out for the Wood Elf called Arrelious. He is an enemy to the Thalmore, and has actively disrupted our activities and caused great harm. If spotted, you are to destroy him w/ extreme hatred. Be advised, he is extremely dangerous, and quite able to defend himself. If caught by local authorities, we are unable to offer you any assistance. Signed: For the glory of the Aldmeri Dominion!"

Don't know what action I took that put a hit out on me. Nonetheless it is awesome that there is a hit out on me. However, between Dragons, These "Thalmore", and now having a bounty in Markarth via the "Forsworn Conspiracy"....I'm a hunted man. =(

Forgot to mention I am a level 17 thus far in my journey.

I am just trying to decide which version to get: 360, PS3 or PC.

            Any thoughts?

              Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I have a single gripe about this game. The lack of a skill rest option is a pain. Even if used as a one time perk, I believe that it is necessity that needs to be patched in at a later date. For players such as myself, and I'm sure there's a ton, upon starting the game I/we weren't quite sure where to place points or which path we wanted to steer our character towards. And so, without any sense of direction, we starting placing points in slots unsure of how it would affect us later on in the game. And, as a result, my/our skill tree is a bit of a mess.

For example, and I pointed this out earlier; I ended up allotting points to the light armor portion of the smithing tree as opposed to the heavy armor section thinking Dragon Armor was the best in the game. Found out otherwise, and that the Dragon Armor perk offered no weapons, and attempted to place a point in the Daedric slot to open that up for weapons. Couldn't do so. I was forced start from the bottom of the tree and work around, wasting an additional 4 points. Really sucked.

I don't want to restart my toon, but it's looking like that's what I'm going to have to do. No biggie, it can't be avoided. Next go around I'm going for a dual wielding(Two Daedric swords), Dunmer who falls back on both his bow and destruction magics in tight situations. I also want to make better use of the sneak technique. Hybrid Mage/Assassin. I'll use my companion as my tank.

Anyhow, outside of that, this game is excellent. Prior to playing that I'd believed Mass Effect 2 to be the best RPG I'd ever played, but this takes the cake. Simply a masterpiece.

PC, if only to future proof yourself in regards to the massive amount of mods that will be coming out.

Also, to my eyes it looks quite a bit better than the console versions.

For those getting the new patch on the 360 and PS3, with it soon to be released on the PC, a warning. This patch completely removes all resistances, be it magic, poison, disease, or elemental. It wasn't intended to, but something in the patch messes them up.

This includes any race related perks like Nords or Bretons.

How do you do the dual dagger sneak attack? Every time I get behind someone and hit both triggers I seem to only get a 15x amount.

There's some special gloves that doubles backstab multiplier.

GOTG (Game of the Generation) for me. It's situations like that the one you descibed that make this game so great. You have no idea what will happen next. I make "to do" lists while I'm talking to clients (over the phone) at work. When I finally get to play I end up getting sucked into something completely unexpected and I never finish my list.

I'm trading sleep to play this game each night and I couldn't be happier. My brother-in-law is playing it also and it's amazing how different our experiences have been. Awesome, Awesome game!

Oh yeah I think I have those lol I may get 30x, but is it possible to get 60x or no? That was what I was thinking, skimming the GameFAQs forums someone mentioned it.

Basically, when dual wielding, do you hit both buttons at once, keep alternating them, etc? Just need to learn how to do that better I guess, along with how to use it while sneaking.
