Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
My favorite exploration quests are the deadric gods shrines. If you see a shrine, approach it. The ending loot you get from them is amazing. I have only seen four so far.
Boethiah Shrine quest spoiler:
SpoilerI love the Ebony Mail. The main problem is that the poison doesn't know friendly or foe. In some situations I have to take it off to fight.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I really want to get the story moving, but I always get this "Ooooh, that place looks interesting. Let's check it out!" Then it leads to another thing and I'm racking up even more side-quests. I really need to add to my real-estate collection though, I need bookshelves!
I also picked up this guy Mercurio. He's a cool mage, but I feel like his spells are too strong and taking away from my pre-ordained "Special One" status.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I have a single gripe about this game. The lack of a skill rest option is a pain. Even if used as a one time perk, I believe that it is necessity that needs to be patched in at a later date. For players such as myself, and I'm sure there's a ton, upon starting the game I/we weren't quite sure where to place points or which path we wanted to steer our character towards. And so, without any sense of direction, we starting placing points in slots unsure of how it would affect us later on in the game. And, as a result, my/our skill tree is a bit of a mess.
For example, and I pointed this out earlier; I ended up allotting points to the light armor portion of the smithing tree as opposed to the heavy armor section thinking Dragon Armor was the best in the game. Found out otherwise, and that the Dragon Armor perk offered no weapons, and attempted to place a point in the Daedric slot to open that up for weapons. Couldn't do so. I was forced start from the bottom of the tree and work around, wasting an additional 4 points. Really sucked.
I don't want to restart my toon, but it's looking like that's what I'm going to have to do. No biggie, it can't be avoided. Next go around I'm going for a dual wielding(Two Daedric swords), Dunmer who falls back on both his bow and destruction magics in tight situations. I also want to make better use of the sneak technique. Hybrid Mage/Assassin. I'll use my companion as my tank.
Anyhow, outside of that, this game is excellent. Prior to playing that I'd believed Mass Effect 2 to be the best RPG I'd ever played, but this takes the cake. Simply a masterpiece.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Reading the Skyrim forums, it appears the new patch completely breaks resistances in the game. In other words, resistances no longer work at all. Your items may tell you your 30% more resistance to fire, but it does nothing. Same goes for racial stats (i.e. Dunmer are no longer 50% resistance to fire, etc).Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Reason they do that is so people don't cheat the system with it. For instance, once you smith daedric/dragonscale armor and enchant it, both smithing and enchanting are mostly useless and you could safely reallocate those perks to something more combat oriented. I have perks I didn't mean to select, so maybe a cancel button would be awesome, but completely resetting perks is a little much.
All you have to do is click on the item you selected, and it deselect's it. Like on the 360 control pad, it's the "a" button to select a soul gem, enchantment, or item... after it's selected, then just "a" on it again, and it deselects.Twitter - WTF_OS

SpoilerThere's one directly south of Winterhold. Azuras shrine.
A lot of these quests won't start unless you are a certain level. If the shrine isn't speaking then come back later.Comment

If you're enchanting, then you can "cancel" prior to "Craft this weapon".

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Just popped Skyrim in a bit ago and received a 3MB patch. Graphics look way better (360).
IN fact on 11/11/11, i played the game for a few hours and kept wondering why the graphics stunk so bad.
Much much better now!Comment
