Spoiler tags would be cool if you're talking about specific quest lines...

Some people want to discover it for themselves and not read about it first.

I must admit while in 1st person view, something would dart out or a dang trap while exploring and scare the crap out of me!

Yeah, even though I could do it without them, I like having, as the Companions say, a "shield sibling" watching my back.

As an aside, whenever I come home from adventuring, my wife is almost always downstairs in the front room eating, cooking or cleaning, she is rarely upstairs, and if she is it is in the hallway and not the master bedroom.

The one time on a quest so far when I couldn't take Lydia with me, she said, "I'll be at home." When it was over I was thinking, "Wait does she mean my home, or does she have her own home?" So I go to my home, and there's my wife downstairs as usual, cooking some soup. Where's Lydia? Upstairs in the master bedroom, sitting in my favorite chair, in her casual gear, just chilling, eating some cheese. It was like, "Yeah, I know you married her, but we both know who you really love."

I wish the game would let those two have conversations with each other, I bet it would be hilarious.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Would someone mind answering a few noob questions? I haven't played an Elders Scrolls game before and am think about taking the plunge.

1.Any real value in starting with the previous game or should I just jump into Skyrim?

2.How would you compare Skyrim to the first game? I mean I'm sure it's better but were the gameplay mechanics pretty much the same?

                        3. The main reason I haven't bought this yet is fear of the learning curve. I haven't played alot of these types of games so I'm thinking it's going to take long, long time to even figure out what I'm doing. Am I over thinking this a little?

I didn't steal it but I also didn't pay for it.

I hit my horse by accident too. I had to put him down for the better. I don't reload my save if something happens that didn't go my way. Whatever happens, happens.

                              Some thoughts for you.

                              1. Not really.

                              2. Its a more refined version of oblivion.....the inclusion of dragons and improved story make the game much more awe inspiring.

                              3. There really isn't a learning curve....infact the learning curve is skyrim's most appealing feature. You want to learn and experience more and more.

It's pretty much a few minor story/balance changes from being the "perfect game".
"Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)

Not really. Jump into Skyrim. You don't need to have played the previous games. You can be caught up with the history of the world through books if you have the patience to read them.

2.How would you compare Skyrim to the first game? I mean I'm sure it's better but were the gameplay mechanics pretty much the same?
Well, the first TES game came out back in the mid 90s, so no the gameplay mechanics are very different. If you're talking about Oblivion, then yes, the core gameplay is pretty much the same.

                                3. The main reason I haven't bought this yet is fear of the learning curve. I haven't played alot of these types of games so I'm thinking it's going to take long, long time to even figure out what I'm doing. Am I over thinking this a little?
Yeah you're over thinking it. There is a small learning curve but it's nothing too difficult. If you get the game and end up loving it, you'll probably roll more than one character anyway so use the first one you create as a trial character to get the basic of the game down. That way, you can come back later and make your "for real" character.
