I originally purchased the regular edition but gave that to my son and told the wife this is what I am getting myself for X-mas. Came with a downloadable online map and the book itself is a "Masterpiece". A little pricey at $39.99 but I had a coupon for $10 off and with the Powerup Rewards card for an additional 10% off I got it for $25 plus tax. Helluva an investment imo. Can't stop reading this thing. Now all I need is a picture frame for my canvas-like map.
It is a massive guide, and massive is an understatement for a game guide.

I unwrapped this this morning. Now I must wait until tonight to get home and play it. I can't freaking wait. I already took the plastic off and the map inside is cool as hell.

I'm planning to buy the game sometime in the near future. Which platform should I get it on (PS3 or PC)? Are there any major differences?

              Thanks.

Depends on your computer, if you have a high end computer that can run games like Skyrim then get it, so much more you can do with mods and stuff it's the way to go.

I got this game for Christmas and I'm only level 4 and I am so hooked. I adored Oblivion and this game just blows it out of the water.

I did the Golden Claw and Bleak Falls Barrow on a single run through. That dungeon is just so diverse as it transitions from one part to another. Draugr are a blast to fight, but their weight to value ratio for items isn't very good sadly.

Elvan the Dark Elf is getting ready for his adventure. My flames/mace combo is doing good for me so far.

Just reached level 13 with my Redguard...I have with wearing heavy armor, and dual-wielding.

Did a side quest that I had no business doing with my then current level but I managed to beat it somehow and got a couple Scimitars that I dual-wield with and it's be awesome!

My primary skills will be one-handed weapons, and heavy armor with archery has a secondary skill I want to become decent at. I'm having a ton of fun with this game!! If you haven't bought it yet, as a non-rpg player I highly recommend this game

Started over going with a nord rogue archer. No magic at all.

Ive decided to comletely ignore the main quest from the get go as in never even talking to the Jarl of Whiterun in the first place. This keeps the random dragons from spawning. I feel at ease knowing a dragon wont come out of nowhere at the worst possible time and screw me over. Sick of those damn things.

Having fun running as my nord archer just running all over, using the the ancient nord bow ( or something like that) I'm level 7 and having a blast just going around shooting arrows at elks and other animals. I finally killed a mammoth after a few tries. I love this game!

I just got Skyrim and the strategy guide for Christmas today-did they ever put in the update to fix resistances on the PS3 version?

If you have a good PC that can handle Skyrim, get it on the PC. I feel for my PS3 friends that have the game, as it's a train wreck right now. Definitely go PC if you can.

Yeah, with 1.3 the resistance bug is fixed. Still a bunch of quest bugs, and the PS3 version has slowdown. But the game is playable, and works pretty well.

Doing well on my second two handed Imperial warrior. I've found and done some things I missed on my inital run. Apparently(not really that big of a spoiler, but still a dungeon spoiler)

Yea that's normal. It's all about picking your battles. Early on in the game I would suggest:
                              - Staying away from mountains because those frost trolls are a nightmare early on
                              - Leaving the mammoths and giants alone, they're pretty leathal too at a low level
                              - Stick to the dungeons around whiterun, for some reason they're alot easier for me to clear starting off

On another note after making a 1 handed Redguard and getting to lvl 50 I decided to make a new character (a stealthy thief archer). And it's like a completely different game!!! I'm loving this stealth character, there's nothing better then sneak attacking and watching them look for you while you pick them off! Lol and I feel like a criminal though because I literally go to a town and just rob everyone in sight.
After this stealth character I'm going to go mage and head straight to the college (really haven't even messed with alot of spells in this game).

Anybody know at what level the shops and drops start getting better? This steel mace is slow and cumbersome now :P

I also need to start increasing magicka when I level up. I can't even summon the flame atronach I bought because I don't have enough magicka lol. Firebolt also takes like half of my magicka too. Still stuck with flames until then I guess.
