Can't wait to pick this up tomorrow. With the mod issue for PS4, definitely getting it for Xbox One.

Oh how I wish......I am having a tough time deciding to stick with my PS3 original High Elf till I finish the main quest and Dark Brotherhood then move on to a brand new journey with the Blood Elf Dual Wielding Dagger/Bow/Alchemist/Thief on the PS4 remaster.

Oh my decisions, decisions.....Can't wait though for tomorrow and to fire it up and create him. I am really stoked about the huge upgrade to the visuals, all the DLC and bugs worked out etc. By far my favorite RPG game of all time. It's just so awesome.

Some names I have kicked around for this Blood Elf are:

Awesome Shizzleton is a name I feel I can never go wrong with.

Nevereth Moore if I'm feeling a little poetic.

              Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Got my disc copy today in the mail from Amazon a day early. I've played about 45 minutes. My kids are on the ps4 and kicked me off. I never played Skyrim before so I can't compare. But it's obvious this is a 5 year old game and not a new one. The graphics look like a ps3 port. I liked the story at the beginning but I don't like the map compass. I was confused lol. You can't switch to third person until after the opening act either. Just getting the hang of things.

I'm looting everything in sight. Have no idea if that's good or bad and I was terrible at lock picking too. There is a small patch. The game doesn't fit on my TV properly and I see no setting to change it.

Named my guy Hadrian after the character in the Riyria Chronicles.

                Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Messed around a bit with the Special Edition on PC. I used console commands to just get into the game and travel around to see what it looked like in various locations, then loaded up the Legendary Edition to compare. It's a decent upgrade visually, but nothing spectacular. Special Edition essentially has better lighting, shadowing, water shaders, and draw distance, more foliage, distance objects, and saturation, along with Godrays and TAA from Fallout 4. Interiors and especially faces don't seem to have got any improvements. Animations didn't either, but I wasn't expecting them to.

It's as expected no match for the Legendary Edition with the likes of 2K textures, flora overhaul, ELFX, vivid weathers, dyndolod, and an ENB preset. Eventually visual mods like these will be updated and made compatible though.

Despite getting bored around 20 hours the last time I played, I may try and play again once the best mods become compatible. I simply can't play vanilla Skyrim; need perk, combat, magic and other gameplay overhauls, and UI and QoL mods.

Another recommendation. Thinking about using a magic build?

Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim - 155 new spells with custom effects and sounds. Lore-friendly and balanced. It's one of the most endorsed magic mods for a reason.

Also, good news for PS4 players. The mod author in the comment section says he will be releasing a smaller package with 30-40 spells in the future.

That sounds cool. I was originally going to be a brawler but I may have to try Mage as I level up. I'm only on level two lol so I haven't wasted much.

That is a must for me, I never got around to making a magic build with Skyrim because of how under-powered it felt.

It's simple. Create an account on Bethesda.net and there's a mod menu in-game which will allow you to browse and download mods.

If you want to see it in action.

On console you can adjust the load order. If only using a few mods this isn't that big of deal, but following general load order advice is a good idea.

Top to bottom is order of priority:
                            • Patches
                            • Other Fixes
                            • Overhauls
                            • Quests
                            • Textures
                            • Weapons and armor
                            • Misc.

Always read a mod author's description.

Worth noting if you care about achievements/trophies using mods will not allow you to earn them and there's no mod like on PC to workaround this.

You just download it. There should be a tag in the main menu, in a couple weeks I think they said, that says mods. And then you click that and download them. I forget to activate them off the top of my head. I'll check later tonight on Fallout 4. I figure it will be the same for Skyrim.
