I just started a mage who will probably be majority destruction spells and it is pretty difficult. I've logged 100's of hours into this but never really touched magic at all and low level necromancers that I used to just chop through are incredibly difficult.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Two more of EnaiSiaon mods. I really like all of his mods.
- Imperious - Races of Skyrim - This mod makes races more unique and diverse. Each race gets 3 passive abilities and a quest to unlock a racial power. NPCs can use them too. Best to start a new game for this mod.
- Wildcat - Combat of Skyrim - This makes combat more deadly and AI more responsive. I mainly used it for the ability to modify damage dealt and taken, and timed blocking. It's not long before you become pretty much unstoppable and being able to tweak things to make it a more even playing field keeps combat interesting. Blocking is no longer a crutch and more dependent on skill level, shield strength, and perks. There's also completely optional combat injuries.
Previously mentioned recommendations:
- Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim - 155 new spells with custom effects and sounds. Lore-friendly and balanced. It's one of the most endorsed magic mods for a reason.
Also, good news for PS4 players. The mod author in the comment section says he will be releasing a smaller package with 30-40 spells in the future.
- Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim - This overhauls the perk trees. 400 new perks that are mostly akin to vanilla, just more depth and character build possibilities. Feeling or ever thought a certain build was under-powered, not fun, or maybe not possible? Ordinator can change this. I've used this the last two times I've played. The perk trees are simply more interesting and balanced. Recommended.
- Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch - Even if you want to stick with vanilla, this mod is essential and contains hundreds of bug fixes that Bethesda never did themselves.
- Alternate Start - Live Another Life - This is a mod I couldn't imagine playing Skyrim without, especially if it's not your first time playing. This allows you to skip the boring and long intro sequence. Choose another life from over a dozen choices that are well integrated.
- The Forgotten City - A lore-friendly time traveling murder mystery. This is one of the better quest mods.
- Point The Way - Another immersion mod that simply adds road signs to many intersections in the world. This one is on PS4 too, as it just uses assets from the game.
- Violens - A Killmove Mod - While not as robust as on PC, this still allows a good deal of customization of the killmoves for both melee and ranged. Change frequency at which they occur, camera settings, and more.
The following is for those that want a more survival feel to Skyrim. It's not about needing to drink, eat, and sleep (there's other mods for this). It's just about making the climate of Skyrim feel harsher.
- Frostfall - This makes weather matter by adding several survival based mechanics. You can customize the settings too.
- Campfire: Complete Camping System - This one is required for Frostfall and further adds to the survival mechanics.
*Removed the mod, no snow under the roof. It seems there's some mesh issues with the Special Edition.
More recommendations:
- Static Mesh Improvement Mod - This is an essential mod on PC, but it may greatly affect performance on console. It adds millions of polygons to greatly improve the appearance of countless 3D models in Skyrim.
- Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul - Greatly improves the AI of friendly NPCs in order to make them act and react like true humans in relation to their environment or to an aggressor.
Also available on PS4
- Hold Border Banners - Simple immersion mod that adds banners along roadsides at the boundaries of two holds. The banner you see will show you which hold you are entering.
Also available on PS4
- Move (Get Out the Way) - It increases the distance traveled by followers or NPCs when you bump into them, and cuts the reaction time in half. No more followers blocking doors!
Also available on PS4
- Faster Horses - Does just that.
Also available on PS4
- Realistic Conversations - Ever wondered why NPCs always seem to have a longer pause between each sentence? Well no more, they are actually talking like people should now. Every social logic is changed.
Also available on PS4
- Lanterns of Skyrim - This mod add lanterns to main roads, villages, towns and settlements. Personally prefer it over Lampposts of Skyrim mod.
Also available on PS4
- Apocalypse - Ordinator Compatibility Patch - Not required, but improves a few interations between these two great mods. Load this patch after both.
- Modern Brawl Bug Fix - This small mod fixes the "brawl bug": the inability to complete a brawl because the opponent immediately accuses you of using magic.
- Thunderchild - 31 new shouts with multiple effects, powerful abilities to improve your shouting, a new section of High Hrothgar, a high quality Greybeard Robe model, items, improvements and bug fixes to existing shouts.
Future recommendations when some serious bugs get fixed:
- Falksaar - This is one of the more ambitious mods. A completely new land with 20+ hours of gameplay. The mod author ended up landing a job at Bungie.
*currently missing a quest item, some meshes and textures.
- Realistic Water Two - My personal pick for a water mod. Greatly improves the appearance, and gives different bodies of water a visual and aural distinction from one another.
*currently causes crashing when fast-traveling.

Thanks for the information, Flawless. Do you know of any mods that enhance character creation? I want to be an elf but the elves in Skyrim don't look as pleasing as the elves looked in Oblivion.Comment

Also, Realistic Water Two update fixed the crashing.

The Unofficial Patch contains some changes to the appearance of Elves.
This is the mod to keep an eye on. New version is up that hopefully fixes the meshes that were causing crashing.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So pretty much Xbox one is the better choice on consoles for this? Why is the ps4 versions mods so limited?

XB1 allows mods up to 4GB though.
Not sure in the legitimacy of what I just typed, that's just what I heard, in a nutshell. Someone else can probably elaborate in more detail.----------------------

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I believe Sony initially said "no" to allowing mods altogether due to security concerns... Bethesda was able to talk them into allowing them up to 1 GB.
XB1 allows mods up to 4GB though.

Sony changed course just weeks ahead of Skyrim’s release, but at a cost: The PS4 version’s space for mods is limited to just 1 GB, while the Xbox One has 5 GB reserved for add-ons. Xbox players can also tap into a variety of assets (like scripts, textures and sound files) while PS4 users can’t upload any external assets at all.
as far as the nature of the limitations to the PS4 mods
“Mods that add new types, or drastically alter existing gameplay? No deal,” wrote user Thallassa in a guide to modding Skyrim Special Edition. “Those require scripts. Quest mods? No go, those require scripts (except for the absolutely simplest of mods, like "go fetch this sword." Anything cool requires scripts for various stages). New characters? No go. ... No new weapons or armor. No retextures or graphics mods.”
The mods currently available on PS4 are simpler in nature. A popular one adds dynamic shadows to certain spells, while the more ambitious Phenderix Magic Evolved adds hundreds of unique spells to the game. Xbox One users, on the other hand, get to add things like “immersive indigestion” and music from Toejam and Earl to their games.
I thought I read somewhere that there was still hope for the PS4 version to match the One's modability but I can't find that quoteLast edited by The JareBear; 11-03-2016, 01:57 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
