More like fallout 3s' leveling system than Oblivion? So what exactly does that mean if you would be so kind?

I've played Fallout 3, but I honestly cant remember how the leveling worked. Its been awhile.

The enitre world does not level up along with you. Meaning if your a level 1 you won't be able to defeat let's say for example a Dragon. But if this were Oblivion you actually would as the Dragon would be at a level 1 with you. So what ended up happening is as a level 15 bad *** mage a road side bandit could kick your *** because he was a level 15 roadside bandit. It was a major flaw and pretty much a game killer for me as I got very deep into the game. It is not the way an RPG should be. You should be able to destroy roadside bandits at some point in the game with a flick of one fireball spell or one mighty swing of your sword.

Therefore with a normal leveling system you better think twice as a low level (insert class) before entering that high level cave. Makes more sense.

Would be nice if they would just use the Everquest/Final Fantasy 11 leveling systems.. Enemies/monsters should be a static level (that maybe fluctuates 2-3 levels.. like the ground Gods on FFXI could spawn anywhere between 75-80), and you shouldn't be able to take on those monsters without getting completely owned until you are near that level and without possibly having a party. And there should also be some sort of toughness guaging meter to tell you "hey, don't **** with that thing over there". EQ used different colors for your targeting reticule to tell you how tough the enemy was and if it would aggro you when you get near it.. FFXI had a check function that would tell you if it was 'too weak' (wouldn't aggro and wouldn't give EXP), 'easy prey' (a few levels lower than you and would still give EXP but may or may not aggro), 'decent challenge' (same level as your character and gave a decent amount of EXP), 'tough' (higher level than you), 'very tough', 'incredibly tough', and 'impossible to guage' (usually reserved for the special monsters).

Yeah the leveling system from oblivion definitely has to go.

Same here. Got my copy yesterday. Wow is all I can say. November is a loooong way off, but Dragon Age 2, Demon's Souls, Dead Space, Bioshock, Uncharted 2 and Borderlands will keep me busy till then. I have so many games that I have yet to play.

The Technology Behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

In the five years since Bethesda last visited Tamriel, the studio honed its chops with the post-apocalyptic hit Fallout 3. Many of Fallout's technological refinements carry over to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but Bethesda Studios has also developed and contracted a suite of technological tools that allow the team to reach far beyond anything they've done before.

Does anyone have a release date for ES5?

I'm really glad that they worked on the animations cause they were horrible in Oblivion.

Man I was reading the GI article and it looks and sounds great.

They even included a whole Fable 3 Mix spell thing to where ya can choose a spell for each hand.

Leveling up feature sounds cool as well, you basically do what ya want and it will level them skills. I am holding out for a way to be a necromancer/summoner/Druid type character, I love having companions with you.
