    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Last videos posted told me this:

Cave exploration will be much better cus they all don't look the same, just differ in enemies and design etc.

Dramatic music cues in at the right times. That better be only for like the final main quest battle and battling big bad *** Dragons. It's too cool for lesser battles

Fighting dragons will be fun combat, unlike in a game like Dragon Age, where it was incredibly dull and got old FAST

Weapons are a lot more detailed and interesting. YAY THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!

The Cave designs look freakin incredible. Really got tired of going into Caves toward the end of Oblivion. Doesn't look like I will have that problem with this game.

Did anyone play Oblivion on 360? Was it ok compared to the PC version?

With Morrowind I wouldn't touch the XBOX version because of mods and the lack of a console to get yourself out of stuck spots.

I don't care so much about mods anymore - but I'm curious if not having the console was much of an issue, or not.

I've given up on Windows, so PC gaming is pretty much out of the question for me. But I'm considering the 360 version at this point; they've come a long way since Morrowind.

I have enjoyed both console versions of Oblivion. The PS3 versions looked a little better in my opnion, but the 360 version had all of the DLC including some that never came out for the PS3 version. To me the gameplay was almost indentical.

It was fine, it just didn't have the mods.

I picked up a cheap version of Oblivion a year or so ago, and used the remaining money I would of pumped into it to pick up most of the DLC.

Aside from that the game was fun. Even still has the infinite money glitch.

Haha...yeah, I'm on a bit of a re-install kick(Arma II), so in anticipation of Skyrim I reinstalled Elder Scrolls and went with a Dark Elf(I usually do Warrior) and had forgotten how big this game was.
You could get lost without even starting the first main quest(the amulet) if you're not careful!

                        Yes, Oblivion.
I think they did a great job with not only the main quest in Oblivion, but even most of the side quests are well written.
One thing I never did in my first go through with the game was fast travel on the map.....I always trekked it.

I hope they did fix a few annoying things....one being the drop item feature. When I would "accidentally" pick up something that over-encumbered me and I couldn't move(not an inch!) and you would attempt to drop something...the annoying "you don't have enough room to drop that item!" message would pop up.

At any rate, Elder Scrolls is one of the best series ever produced in gaming IMO.

I Hated that "You do not have enough room to drop this item" dialogue. That was a HUGE downfall to the game.

I can't imagine not doing fast travel sometimes, as long as it took to get from one end of the map to the other.

I liked fast travel a lot more in Morrowind than Oblivion. It felt a lot more real having to use ships and Silt Striders, and also forced you to explore. I know some self restraint will prevent you from using fast travel, but when you have to cross the map it just gets tedious.

Anyone know the plan for FT in Skyrim?

I read something about a carriage system on Bethesda's site. My understanding is that the carriages are in addition to regular fast-travel.

Agreed. I remember having this print out of the map that showed all the cris crossing lines of where the ships and striders would take you so I could plot my course. But I like how it forced you to still hoof it to some places and run into who knows what in the process.
