Anyway, I've never gotten into Elder Scrolls series before either. Just wondering if there is a save system that is a little more forgiving? Also, do the rogue/thief'ish characters in this game actually use shadows, sneak and steal? Went with a thief in Dark Souls but just doesn't like I'm a thief at all. Just wanting some input from you guys who've spent many hours with previous Elder Scrolls.

You can save anywhere and anytime in Oblivion(I can't remember Morrowind or Darklands)
I've never went total thief in the game....but there is a "sneak" mode and it does use shadows.
There are also the chameleon and invisibility spells for magic users and there is vampire dust which makes you silent.
I think it does a good job with giving you the chance to be a sneak character.

Sounds pretty intriguing then. I did some searching on Google and didn't come away with much. I did find this small article on the stealth system getting a huge"overhaul" in Skyrim.

Sneaking really never worked for me. Granted I was a knight, but still it seemed kind of broken in Oblivion. A good invisibility spell is the way to go.

I know I shouldn't be buying another game... but this game is too good to be true. Another 60$+ spent haha.

I liked the sneaking in Oblivion a lot. That's my favorite play style. Like others said, there are potions and spells to make you partly or completely invisible. I had to use a mod to get the most out of bows because they are pretty underpowered otherwise. The same goes for daggers, I thought they were pretty weak so I just used katanas (those were mods too).

Pretty much my sentiments exactly regarding the sneak/thief/rogue thing. that's why holic's linked article gives me great hope. Dagger damage multiplier can be increased as well as bow damage. Plus the whole "alert" status is something the previous games lacked. They either knew you where there or they didn't.

So the question for me is: 360 or PS3? I am assuming the 360 version will be on multiple discs (which sucks) but will the PS3 be the same performance wise? Anybody know which system it was designed for and ported over from?

Actually, it's been said it will fit all on one disk for the 360. There is very little in the way of cut scenes that usually take up a lot of space. It was designed on the 360 as well.

I love the multiple disks. I live with other people that want to play as well. So for Games like LA Noir and Rage when I went to disk 2 they played disk 1.

The big space hog is audio, especially in a game like Skyrim. Oblivion was mostly audio on the disc, and I imagine Skyrim is one in the same. Thankfully they hired more than three voice actors this time

Absolutely audio takes up the majority of the disk. I mentioned cut scenes because in most games they are audio on top of pre-rendered out of engine animation. Space can be saved by doing in engine cut scenes but most engines can't pull that off and still be good quality.
