If anyone is on the fence about this one..... Do yourself a favor and jump off of that not so sturdy fence and buy this game. This game is like no other RPG that I have ever played.

This is not little Timmy's RPG and I would definately not let my "little Timmy" play this one. This is a grown up RPG.

It actually boggles my mind that there isn't more buzz about this game on OS, seeing how games like Skyrim and Mass Effect seem to churn out a huge following. This game is every bit as good and arguably better than those titles.

I oiled up the silver sword, drank some potions and with bombs and traps took out about 20 foul beasts. Thanks for the advice.

I have the disc copy, fresh installed, and it still wouldn't work. I went to the site, downloaded Part 2 to C://Downloads, ran the Downloader patch exe, which is saved in the same spot...and I still get the corrupted file. I uninstalled, re-installed, tried again, to no avail.

Johnny, try to also d/l part 1 and place it in that same folder. I was reading some people needed to copy both over.

In having a tough time with the combat at the start. Just doesn't seem that intuitive and I'm not liking not being able to "lock on" a dude a strafe around him. Kinda makes combat look kinda ugly.

This game might have the story and atmosphere, but as of now I'm giving Reckoning the trophy for game play in all these recent fantasy RPGs.

I do hear it get better later and the initial levels are difficult.

The soundtrack for this game is pretty good.

Finally getting the hang of combat and the other gameplay mechanics.

The only issue I am having is shooting dice..... I have won once in about 15 tries. Everytime I lose I go and enter the "fight club" fights to get my money back and take out some anger.

Can anyone compare/contrast this game and Kingdoms of Amalur?

At some point the next month or 2 I'll probably want another big RPG type game, but not sure if I'd be better off with this or KOA....don't know much about the Witcher at all.

Apples and oranges really. The Witcher involves making moral choices as part of your journey, not as a payoff or achievement (per se). The combat is different as well. Amalur is more action oriented with a loot based reward system. There are only two main swords in the witcher and a handful of spells. Also in the Witcher you really have to prepare for big fights using potions and sword enhancements. They really are two different types of games. I have enjoyed playing both. When I want fast paced RPG action I go Amalur, when I want slow and steady the Witcher. Oh and the Witcher has a very deep and mature story.

KoA = colorful, standard fantasy fare done well, combat comparable to God of War/Devil May Cry etc. but not quite that over the top.

                            Witcher 2 = dark,fantasy tropes turned on head,lives up to M rating,combat comparable to Assassin's Creed.

Yea..the opening scene is just ridiculous

The only problem I am having is switching targets in combat. Everything seems fast and the manual states to use the left trigger, but something disconnects...any help?

Picked this up yesterday. Just got to the first act, after completing the prologue. So far the game is fantastic, still trying to get used to the combat though. The tutorial helped somewhat in that regard, and I would recommend not skipping it. Targeting seems a little wonky, but nothing that can't be managed once you get used to it.

At least from what I played so far, I think this will be end being one of the top 2 or 3 RPGS I have played. I would like to add, that while the game is scaled down graphically from the PC, it still is one the better looking 360 games I have played. Story is very deep and interesting so far, and the game is a very mature RPG.

Oh and something refreshing about the game, relative to most games these days, is that the manual is actually useful and a quest guidebook being included is an extra bonus as well.
