Far Cry 3

Was never a huge fan of the Far Cry series but this game looked too good to pass up. Hopefully I don't regret buying it.

Is there anyone here who doesn't tag enemies? Unless you use the camera, you can't tag them, right? I'm thinking of not using it when I get the game. Can you still take them down without it, or is it too hard?

If you aim at a enemy long enough it tags them as well.

This is quite possibly my favorite game of this generation, from what I have played so far. The flexibility and variety of the gameplay is just fantastic.Also as far as the graphics go, they may be a little bit rough around the edges here and there , and I still don't care for some of the shadow effects, but as a whole they are definatly impressive given the size of the island. Certain parts of the island look flat out gorgeous.

Also I could easily see myself getting 40+ hours out of the game on the first playthrough. I have spent a ton of time just exploring and hunting. Still have a ton of the story missions, side missions, and outposts left to do. Still haven't tried out the map editor yet either.

One small nitpick I have though, is the amout of information popping up on the screen/hud (hints, directions, mission notifications, etc) at times. It is a bit of an overkill. Guess it's their attempt to help out the casual gamer who needs their hand held, wish there was an option to disable some of it though.

Do I have to play other Far Cry games to understand what's going on in this game? I haven't played any Far Cry's before.

Nope they are all separate stories completely.

Been watching some MP gameplay on TwitchTv,and I gotta say....it doesn't look that bad,actually seems like it would be pretty fun...definitely going to give it a go.

It's fun when I can get into a game. It's not as smooth as COD or BF, but I enjoy the game modes and maps. I love the jungle tropical island settings.

PC guys, how does it run under recommended specs?

My PC specs here:

Intel core i7-860
8GB DDR3 Memory
ATI Radeon HD 5770

It's a couple years old, but beats out the Recommended Specs I read online:

DirectX11 graphics card with 1024MB Video RAM
Quad core CPU
4GB Memory

So I'd think it'd run ok on my box...My graphics card is right in the "recommended" range, CPU beats out some of the ones they were suggesting as "recommended" and I have double the memory.

Does it feel good at this level? If so then I'll think about grabbing it on Steam sometime. Also, if I got the PC version at Best Buy is it a steam key or separate total install?

Thanks for the input! Didn't even think my PC could run this, and don't have as much console gaming time lately.

The optimal level for video quality is surprising good. I have a 6870 HD radeon and the game runs really smooth on optimal, might try high later. The graphics are superb on optimal, especially in the daylight. You'll see when you climb one of the radio towers in the game, how good the graphics are.

Cool, thanks...I know I won't be able to run on high, but as long as it's decent I'll probably roll with it. I think these recommended are better than some games. I remember in the past buying a game that I exceeded the minimum but it ran horribly.

I picked this up yesterday and all I want to do is quit my job and go play it. Such a great upgrade over Far cry 2, this is the game I have been hoping for!!

Well the map editor has its 1st down side, you can't add AI for maps to play with your friends. You can't even add a bird or shark because the AI need to work, and online maps can't have AI.
I was hoping to make a few maps with pirates and animals for us to run around in, but thats a no go.

Can you just have AI bots? Haven't played with it much yet.
