Hopefully it can be as hard as you want. Loved the difficulty of the 1st version. Currently playing it again just for the pure fun of it.

Does the original allow you to be more "sniper" and try and hide?

The demo is pretty impossible to lay low, the enemies see you instantly once you kill one guy, but that may just be because it's so scripted.

Just trying to figure out if this will actually give you the option to be a little stealthy, or is it just "Keep shooting from cover once you find guys"

I was able to avoid detection on one part of the demo. It is on the section where you lay the 2nd charge. I was prone and picked off the guy to the left and the two guys in the cafe (or whatever) ran out and were looking around and then took cover, but they did not spot me. I was able to pick both of them off without them taking a single shot.

          Really?

Can you guys verify if the original is much harder than the new demo?

I dont mind stealth and patience as long as the game is good

Well personally I spend a lot of time inching along on my stomach...binoculars up.... inch along... binoculars up... etc...
Not too far along BUT if I remember correctly (and we all know how the past gets remembered) it was very extreme at times.

Did I read right that there is no competitive multiplayer?

Only the PC has competitve multiplayer.

                  That's very disappointing.

Wish my PC could handle it. I just don't get this decision to not include it on the consoles.

that's a bit of a disappointment - but I hope the single player takes at least as long as the first one. It's hard to fully miss the multiplayer since I owned 1 on xbox which never had it. However, Ghost Sniper or whatever it's called had it and so does it's sequel, so I'm hoping they add it in as a patch/add-on if/when they see console sales justify it. I really think they have no idea how well the game will sell.

                        RE: Difficulty ...

in 1 I remember dying all the time at first. I took so long just to get adjusted to spotting enemies. Finally it clicked and I started seeing them, they blended in well with the environments, it reminded me of hunting games where you finally start seeing the prey. It was a whole new type of pacing, you had to wait in a bombed out rut sometimes for about 5min. That doesn't sound like a lot, but imagine, listening for a tank and not moving AT ALL for literally 5 minutes to be 100% sure you won't be spotted. You could die VERY easily - and the save/checkpoint system was kind of fuzzy, but I remember each life/turn you had to be so careful or you'd screw up all the progress you made.

I feel like the game eventually got easier, but a lot of that was me just being so in-tune with the gameplay and being fully used to it. I feel the demo even on elite is pretty easy, you can get away with things you never could have in the first. Some of that is bad and some of that is good. I'll judge May 1st, but I would even go as far to say that for me, SE1 was comparable to something like Dark Souls at least early on in terms of difficulty.

I don't leave the first area and pick them all off from there.

Don't know how true it is but I read the publisher wouldn't let them include the deathmatch on consoles but since they're self-publishing it on PC they can do whatever they want with it.

The "Kill Hitler" DLC is a nice bonus. I can see myself playing that mission over and over. Very cool.
