I'm about to cave in and purchase this, but I need an answer to just one question: How's the re playability for this game? I think I already know the answer, but my wallet is being stingy this week.

A normal play through will run you about 30 or so missions and there are over 80 unique maps in the game. You can play through 2 or three times without seeing the same map. You also have dynamic entry points and random enemy placement.

You also can't research and create everything in a single play through either a normal play through is around 15 or so hours on normal. But if you play on Classic it's around 30.

Wow. Loving this game so far. Was up until 2am last night (yawn!) when I pulled a total noob move and moved the VIP i was escorting while an alien was on overwatch. He died, I quickly powered off the Xbox and lost probably the last hour of gameplay.

I have been saving manually - but not that often. Should I just turn on autosave?

I don't plan on making a habit of reloading my save games to avoid bad results, but it's very early in the game and I just wasn't aware that having them hunker down was the better option.

Never played the original X-Com, but between the good previews and the $15 gift card deal at Best Buy, I figured it was worth a chance. Even if I hated it (*cough*Resident Evil 6*cough*), I figured with the BB trade-in prices I would break-even, or end up paying a few bucks for what would have basically been a rental. However I'm totally hooked now.

Man...even on normal you are absolutely punished for even the smallest tactical or management error. I'm currently paying dearly for both my early research choices (not taking an opportunity to sneak in a weapons upgrade) and getting too ambitious/cocky in a couple mission choices and strategy. The AI is flat-out tough in this game...and not in a cheap way.

I started a game on easy just so I could get comfortable with things. I'll turn up the difficulty later. Haven't had a chance to dig in too much yet but love what I've experienced so far.

Holy hell is this game awesome.

And also, it seems like every time I make a tactical mistake, I lose a guy who is vitally important to me. CPU is RUTHLESS to you in this game. My last mission before turning off the game, I lost two Sgt. because I got caught by a car too long and BOOM!

The other was just a damn good flank on a sniper and he was toast.

I'm like you but I started on Normal. My next playthrough will probably be Classic Ironman. Where did you all put your base at? I put mine in Europe to start.

                                Europe is where it's at.

Use America is you want air superiority, in the old school one you could get to a point where you could down alien crafts with as little damage as needed to salvage as much intact alien tech as possible.

Wonder if they went that route in this one if you go America.
