I'm using medium density roads, does that equal medium density zones a lot of the time or is there not really a formula?

jk
Don't know about y'all but the servers were acting up a bit today and I was able to log on, I was mayor of 3 cities lol
I should be down to just one now, sorry for the trouble!Comment

I was for a while. It got a lot better after I built a hospital, though.
I'm struggling with water right now. My pump station's about to run dry, and being the genius city planner that I am, I put my industrial area over the biggest water supply in the city, and now it's all polluted. Sigh.
On the plus side, I think I'm close to phasing out my oil plant and going all wind once I have the money to buy the new turbines I researched.

Re: SimCity 5
So my town (Willow Bay...let's see how many people get the reference) has a garbage problem in that not even half of all of my citizen's garbage cans are being collected. This prompted me to build a 2nd garbage dump, fully equipped with 16 trucks. Still, it's not even coming close to doing the job. Tonight, I decided to watch the garbage trucks and see why they weren't able to make it to everyone's house. What I found is that there seems to be a bit of an AI problem when it comes to this...

As you can see, just about all 32 of my city's garbage trucks are all on the same street, impeding each other's path. Why won't the AI make them automatically divvy up their routes so this doesn't happen? How can I ever make my sims happy when this keeps being a problem?Comment

Re: SimCity 5
Medium density roads can only support medium or low density buildings. When picking a road and it shows the picture of it, in the bottom right corner it shows what density the road can support.Lux y VeritasComment

Is there no way to start from a clean landscape on the same area? Got a problem that's not going to be easy to fix... (self-induced, not a disaster).
I tried abandoning it and reclaiming, but it's still the same city.
Edit: Okay, I recovered, but man, that was close. Somehow while I was drawing service roads for my wind turbines it somehow disconnected them. I barely had enough to bulldoze the messed-up ones and put in a larger one, which thankfully worked. I'm still in the green so I'm okay, but I wouldn't have been for long without power.Last edited by bcruise; 03-11-2013, 12:05 AM.Comment

Re: SimCity 5
Finally claimed a spot now trying to decide what route to take. Any idea if I have to build a lot of residential areas if I am gonna do a gambling city? Would I ever prosper by making limiting residential areas? New to sim city games and not sure.Comment

Re: SimCity 5
I built a nuclear power plant which has an output of 200 meanwhile my city's needs are only 115 but yet the other side of my town is not being powered. It's all connected by roads as my old Solar Plant provided power over there. Do Nuclear Plants have a smaller radius?
EDIT: Did not know you needed water to power the plant, I had just upgraded my water system so the plant wasn't functioning at full capacity.Last edited by Molarmite; 03-11-2013, 01:15 AM.Follow me for live wrestling tweets @molarmiteComment

Re: SimCity 5
It's not just every sim though, it's every resource. The oil you are processing, the goods you are buying, selling exporting, all interacts with the local and global market. Know what can impede that? Traffic. Those sims you don't care about going from their work to home, or visiting as a tourist from the next town over, or driving kids to school in a schoolbus... create a situation where all of their worlds become one by being stuck in the same congested street and your city dies.
...and that's just traffic. Those sims you don't care about have to be educated, or the right class of workers to even be able to work at your oil refinery, if they don't have jobs they don't spend money at your commerce. They are the blood cells of your city, neglect them and the city dies.
In the end it's all connected, and I think it's a better game for it. This is much better than a cosmetic portrayal of arbitrary traffic in an intersection, market conditions, population density, etc.
To me, ignoring the sims is like ignoring the players in Madden. All you want is to be the team with the higher score and win the Super Bowl. Not saying there aren't people like that, but like Madden SimCity is a game for the min/maxer, people who like the little things and getting the most out of what they've got and ultimately 'figuring out' the best way to do some things.Comment

Re: SimCity 5
It's got a poor processor and poor video card (but thankfully not integrated graphics). The graphics card meets the min requirements, but the processor does not. I would bet you could run the game if all the settings were on low, but it might be extremely laggy/choppy, and I wouldn't risk on it.
intel i3 second generation quad core 3.1 ghz
8gb gddr3 ram
1 tb hd
the best information i can get on graphics is, it uses one of my cores on the processor and 2gb of my ram
im saying this cause integrated chips arn't out of the question, on the settings i said framerate doesn't take a hit at all, but my computer is or was pretty beast at the time i got it, i didn't buy a vid card, cause i figure as long as it runs all the current games i can live with it, since my xbox is my primary gaming console, and my processor and ram should be current for a while, and buy a vid card when i really need oneComment
