Your outposts will never go away unless you manually tell them to go away.

The number of outposts available is relative to the size of your home base.

I believe it's a max of 4 outposts while church is your home.

It's 6 outposts max if you live at McReady farm.

And 8 outposts max once you're in Snyder Trucking Warehouse.

All the more reason to move in to the warehouse ASAP.

So, you basically have to "move" outposts. Cool.

Its crazy how deep this game is while being deceptively simple. Its already got me hooked. I can't imagine how this game would be if its budget was backed by a big publisher and fleshed out the mechanics a bit.

So you can't "save scum" if you lose a character.

Wait, so I have to establish the outposts before I move in? I only have 2 of the 8 outposts at the warehouse and I can't make any more since it says this is already my home.

Ok i got to the church last night. I was just doing supply runs and have the army and vet missions open.

How do i bring survivors from houses back? I tried bringing a cache to their spot but no go. Did i miss a tutorial? Is it explained in a drop box? Thanks.

Edit: i was trying to say i havent really done any missions basically just trying to stock pile and search the town before advancing.

Not all survivors will want to join you. Some are simply "neighbors" who hole up in various homes throughout the world.

If someone wants to join you, the mission will explicitly tell you to take them back to your base.

It will say "escort survivor" on screen with a blue arrow pointing home.

Thanks i was confused because i saved a guy at a shop and he dipped to his trap house. I was like wtf. Is trust built by putting supplies in their cache spot?

For those wondering if we ever see co-op, I think Undead Labs and State of Decay has a very strong future:

We have sold more than a quarter million copies since we released the game two days ago. State of Decay has smashed all kinds of records. The only game that ever sold more on XBLA this fast was Minecraft…an already hugely popular game.

We are not just riding on this train, however! We’re never going to stop pushing to make the best games we can. If you’re wondering what we’re working on to make this game even better, please check out Jeff’s Title Update post. We’re also not going to leave you behind, Germany. You’re joining the ride soon. (And we haven’t forgotten you, Australia/New Zealand. Cross your fingers.) We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we hope you’ll be there with us.

So the consensus on this is that it is a good game? It looks like a lot of fun, but I need to add more Microsoft points if I am going to get it.
                        When does the update/patch drop?

                          They're hoping sometime next week.

It is fun. Basically a trial and error/figure out how to play as you go type of game and can be as deep as you want to play it.

I would wait until the patch before buying it.

The infestation glitch is a pretty big issue.

I've put my game on hold and will return when the patch drops.

I'm holding off until they add the multiplayer. It sounds like a good game, I'd just prefer running with some friends.
